Exclamation Us vs Them...

Over the years there have been numerous members/individuals that have staked a claim to "us vs them"...GLBT, treatments, faith, political voices, professionals, adults, teenagers, inattentive, hyperactive, NTers, ADDers...the list goes on and on. There are so many people and so many possible divisions that occur and it is sad and disappointing to see valued and respected members get caught up in unnecessary feuds.

ADDF is a site centered on support for individuals seeking answers from all walks of life and all members are treated equally within the confines of our guidelines. While there are some posts and threads members do not appreciate the message, theory, or concept, there are others who can identify with the perspective. Staff cannot and will not moderate generalizations; it would be near impossible to keep up with the edits, and unfortunately, members tend to forget that the generalizations are made from all sides and no matter how informative or flame free a message can be, it is not until someone takes offense that tempers fly and guidelines are broken.

It is understandable that members want to advocate or defend what they believe represents them but no matter the extent of effort, we cannot expect that everyone will be receptive to the knowledge you have or the experiences that you can share. There is only so much information you can provide anyone across the board with hopes that they will accept your message. Despite the desire, it is an unrealistic expectation to anticipate that all individuals will accept your perspective. We have had these issues in every forum, no one corners the market.

After so many instances of warnings, infractions, and head butting based on the content of a specific forum should members reconsider participating. In the ideal world, all come to seek any and all advice and insight and walk away with a broader and more informed perspective. Unfortunately that is not always the situation we as a forum find ourselves. It is a futile exercise to beat your collective heads against uncompromising perspectives.

We are done with the arguing and "us vs them" debates on the open forums. If there is a desire to debate perhaps try threads centered around, "Why we cannot find common ground" or "Why does humankind make generalizations" as a topic in the private debate forum, please seek membership with the understanding that general forum guidelines still apply. Future instigating threads and posts on the open forum, on profiles, and in blogs will result in warnings and infractions. When participating on the Forums keep the guidelines in mind, report posts when necessary and learn to walk away when you notice someone isn't willing to civilly discuss the topic. We will continue to do our best to take care of the rest.
