Recently Diagnosed

I'm 27 and was diagnosed with ADD about 2 months ago. So far, I have been taking generic Adderall; starting with 5 mg 2x day, then 10 mg, on to 15 mg, and now I take 20 mg 2x a day. It's been a little difficult as far as getting used to the medication and how it works, but there are days when it seems like it all just comes together and I can function like a "normal person", whatever that means. Although my moments of dedicated concentration are still few and far between, my psychopharmacologist says that I am still on a relatively small dose for an adult. I'm really hoping for the best, as I am returning to college this fall. I can't wait to sit in class and actually learn something, for a change. It seems like my whole life has been riddled with situations that I had to painstakingly squeak through just to get to the next seemingly insurmountable challenge. A tiny, peach pill has given me more confidence and hope than I've ever known before, and anyone who has negative feelings toward this sort of therapy has either never struggled with a learning disability or witnessed the effects of amphetamine salts being used irresponsibly.

Anyhow, I've rambled long enough. I look forward to becoming an active member of this group.
