That is absolutely hilarious. I am laughing at my screen. He will live, and learn a lesson.

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

MGDAD...yeah, it was one of those times where I just didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so I did both. I'm sure we all have these stories about our kids! This is the sort of thing I think will be interesting to remind him of in 20 years. It's also the sort of thing that reminds me of how tough we parents really are...smiling in the face of adversity.

Another "You know your child is AD/HD" moment for him came last night at his 3rd grade music performance: 150 kids on stage...my kid by no means had a solo part, but he still managed to stick out in the crowd like he was the star of the show...laughing & smiling like he was in heaven, wildly jumping & dancing to the songs, took a bow like he was on Broadway...he can work a crowd like no other! Keep in mind, the other kids were just standing there on the risers, singing songs...no big movements or dancing...just singing. And there he was, my little AD/HD'er who is in 'trouble' at school more often than not, having the time of his life.

Awesome...awesome...

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

you know your kid is AD/HD when....
You can't go to the bathroom without having to come back out and clean up whatever trouble your son has gotten into.

Found him swimming on the carpet in a pile of powdered coffee creamer, standing inside the fish tank, found all of the laptop keys in a nice neat pile beside the laptop (twice), found frozen pizza's in a trail across the livingroom floor each with a bite taken out of them.

mom, what, mom, what, mom, WHAT! dad......

you wake up every morning to find him lying in the middle of the bed with his favorite blanket wrapped around his head, all the other blankets, sheets and pillow on the floor in a pile, curtains ripped out of the window, and a puddle on the floor beside his pajamas and pull up.

and he's only 3 lol can't wait to hear the behavioral specialist's opinion.

... she can't rememeber to take her meds in the morning.

You know she inherited the ADHD from you when ... you can't remember to remind her to take her meds.

Hope no one minds me posting here...I don't actually have kids but I saw the thread and thought it would be interesting and entertaining to read, and it certinaly is! There are a few things that I myself can relate to!

OMG that happened to me! Can't remember how old I was...about 12 maybe? I was always saying "Huh?" and "What?" and not being able to hear what people were saying, and they said my hearing was fine and it was that I wasn't paying attention. And when she said that, I couldn't remember if I'd been paying attention or not (when I'd not heard someone properly)

I do this all the time, my mum doesn't understand it!

Kids are great...I bet when I have kids they will be absolutely crazy like their mum

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

I have to post again.
My son and his friend decided they were going to wave to the cars as the cars drove by. Alright, this will keep them busy. Next time I look at them, the two of them are racing the cars across the large front lawn. Then, they are dancing like fools and singing "Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me."

It's moments like these that I am so glad my child is harmlessly creative.

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

Oh so many things where to start

When your child colours his own and his twins nose in red permanent marker because he wanted it to be red nose day.
He gets hold of his sisters nail varnish and paints his entire foot and fingers,as well as the bed sheets.
He feeds himself and his twin teatree oil only to do the same thing with Lavender oil 2 month later needing hospital admission both times for observation.
He jumps all over his autistic brother who can,t stand loud noises and physical contact, this occurs numerous times a day.
You can,t get him to eat breakfast because he is engrossed on nintendo DS you remove it only to have a meltdown and he still doesn,t eat breakfast.
He also has to be told numerous times to brush his teeth, put on his shoes etc and i still end up doing it for him.
You chase him around the room to track him down to do his reading and still don,t really achieve anything.

All this usually happens in the same day. Piers is as yet undiagnosed working on getting a diagnosis though.

Re: You know your child is ADHD when...

my 11 yr old still does that now

leaving going to the toilet until the last possible minute

going to get dressed, then coming downstairs in just underwear

asking him to do something, then he still forgets

walking out of school early because he thinks it's hometime

when he was 4 yrs old...going to nursery, and striping off all his clothes

My 11-year old granddaughter is doing much better on Concerta. But she forgot to take any with her to her dad's for the weekend, so she forgot to set her alarm to get up for school, so she had to rush to get ready and forgot to take her pill again this morning. She even forgot to put on her glasses! So gramma ended up taking the glasses and the pill to school after getting the rest of the family off for the day.

We've learned to only ask her to do one thing at a time, and to make sure we actually have her attention when we ask or tell her do something. Even then, she forgets at times, but that really helps a lot. I remember getting so frustrated when I was a kid and my mom would give me a whole list of things to do. If I was lucky I could remember the first thing and the last thing.

I'm almost 30, I still request that people give me one task at a time.
