A Vicious Cycle

Every semester, my first class, no matter what it is or how interested I am in the subject, goes something like this:
  1. Wake up
  2. Get ready
  3. Start running late
  4. Get to school late
  5. Feel bad for interrupting class so skip first lecture
  6. Remember you had an assignment due after first lecture is over
  7. Feel too anxious, stubborn, pessimistic or embarrassed to explain to prof. what's going on and ask for a late grade
  8. Take a zero
  9. Repeat
Right now, I'm beating myself up for not 1) making it to class on time to turn in my lab assignment and 2) not talking to my prof. immediately. It's doubly disappointing since I'm pulling A's in all my classes except this one because of this assignment. Bleh.

Just thought I'd share my little struggle.

Re: A Vicious Cycle

Diagnosed? Medicated?

It can make the difference.

Cheers,
Ian

Re: A Vicious Cycle

Definitely talk to your prof or any other member of staff that you are comfortable with!! Always talk to them so they know that you care at least.

Re: A Vicious Cycle

My first question was also about whether you were diagnosed or medicated.

Re: A Vicious Cycle

Diagnosed and medicated

It's helped a lot. I just chicken out, so to speak, when it comes to talking to my profs. about ADD, late grades, etc. I don't really have a choice this semester, so I guess that a good thing. haha All my grades are looking good except my first class (history) because of a single zero I took.
