Foggy Memories

Ok, is this just me, or does everyone here have foggy memories? I honestly can't remember crap, whether it was yesterday, or a week or month ago....5 minutes ago....

I don't remember hanging out with people, movie content, conversations, instructions. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Other people tell stories from elementary, middle and high school that I have zero recollection of. I might sometimes, but it's very...distant. It's like my brain is all "No! we don't have time to store this information! Move on to the next thing now! Right now!" I don't remember movies unless I've watched them multiple times because I really like them.

Most days I don't even remember what I had for breakfast...like I really strain myself to recall it. And lately it's been even worse since I've been scraping by on 10mg of meds a day....

Being super distracted isn't helping with remembering things. I've done a lot of stupid mistake crap at work including almost ruining the tractor multiple times.....*face-palm*

So what's the deal with this....is it a Pample thing....or an ADHD thing? lol

Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: Foggy Memories

What I can say is that I never remember any movies or TV shows or anything. I could watch Oceans 11 or something probably a million times and I would see something new each and every time. Some things would come back to me, but I will still be enthralled by it, and have a greater appreciation for it every time.

I will have trouble remembering breakfast and stuff as well, my working memory is not good at all so I have a notepad with me at all times if possible.

Essentially I can definitely identify with you on this.

There are some things though that for some reason I remember perfectly, no idea what they are, there's no pattern to it that I can see, but there's some occasional things that I remember perfectly. Everything else is fuzzy or just gone.

Re: Foggy Memories

Being so scatter brained makes me forget things in the short term-the keys, wallet, appts etc. Ask me what happened on my 16th birthday and I can explain every detail down to the clothes I was wearing, makes no sense really.

Re: Foggy Memories

My memory is getting worse. I used to still remember little things like breakfast the day before and others that you mentioned, but now I seem to forget.

The most frightening day was when I tried to remember what I had for breakfast at around dinner time and I couldn't remember at all. My mind went blank and I felt uneasy about not remembering.

Could it be early onset Alzheimer's/dementia?
I read that people with Adhd have a higher chance of getting Lewy-Body Dementia.

Re: Foggy Memories

Since not everyone has access to medscape, can you perhaps provide us with another link to this article?

I read it before too... but should be written the other way around.

~People with Lewy-Body Dementia are at higher risk of having ADHD when they were younger.~

It makes a big difference numbers wise this way.

They can't be certain because most of the patients were to old to have received an official diagnoses for ADHD back then.

Re: Foggy Memories

I have sadly excepted the fact that I can't depend on my working memory. Long and short term memory not so great either... I wont lie it does make me worry about my elder years as it seems to get worse with age. For me at least.

Re: Foggy Memories

thank god im not alone!

my memory isnt worth a half penny these days. seriously. but it's weird. i can remember any line from a show or movie first time watching it, and the most obscure miniscule details of something, but i cant remember important things or actual parts of my life i should remember (or i may have chosen to block some memories).

stickynotes are my memory now

Re: Foggy Memories

My long-term memory on both things that really interests me, and also the most random things has been good.

As I get older, I do find that some of the long-term memory, especially when it includes a timeline on a series of events, is beginning to get a bit foggy.

Re: Foggy Memories

My memory seems to be selective intrying to screw me over...I remember the most random irrelevent things but almost nothing i need to remember (kinda weird)

Re: Foggy Memories

Could it be that you spend little time talking about events and personal experiences?
Because memories actually are just a few impressionistic fragments and people usually learn to make a story out of them so that they can make sense ouf of their experiences.
Smelling fresh straw, I suddenly feel the pricking of straw under my naked legs, climbing on straw bales, imagining it's a horse I'm sitting on top of. My meta-memory tells me 'Oh that was during the summer in my aunt's village, with my cousin. We pretended we were horseback-riding a lot back then. Age somewhen between ten and thirteen, probably.' and with that placement I can add my cousin's face and name, and the buildings and fields of the village, and I can also call up other memories from that village, and so I can make myself believe I remember a lot about it. (I don't. I remember some sensations and my intent.)
But without that story, it's just some impressions with quite an intangible feel to them.
I have many such memories that I never really cared about making up a story for, which means I can't actively recall any of them. Only when I experience a sensation or an intent that triggers a memory I have some kind of access to it, and it's usually no details, just a 'yeah I've kind of seen this before' memory.
