For me the worst part is sitting still. My dentist did my first one...three years later it failed and I got it redone by an endodontist. If I had to do it over again, I’d go straight to the specialist.

He was good. It wasn’t so much pain as pressure. ( but my abscess didn’t hurt to begin with so ymmv). My jaw was sore afterwards and he advised taking double dose Advil for the four days afterwards regardless of pain level.

For me the entire experience was like a rather long filling session.

Some say they aren't bad at all.

Maybe because I have denta-phobia, maybe because I have a bad reaction to
the novocaine or lidocaine or whatever caine they used, but they were horrible
for me.

After the fourth one, with dentists treating me like I was a cry-baby, one even
said it to me!, I chose to have the tooth pulled instead of yet another root canal.

I was sent to a specialist and when I had a panic attack as they began to put
in the novocaine without giving me nitrous oxide as requested, the dentist
explained that some people do react badly to the ephenedrine effect (irregular heartbeats, anxiety, rapid breathing).

If you've never had that reaction to novocaine, it probably won't be bad at all.

Oh damn that sucks Sweets.
I've had a root canal. All I'm going to say here is that at least it got rid of the chronic pain my tooth had been causing me for months before getting it.

(((((((Sweets)))))))

I really don't like dentist.

Re: The what's bothering you RIGHT NOW thread Part V

My 3 days a week group therapy is going to be finished in about a month. To finally be ready after 2 years of treatment should be exciting news, but I still find it scary AF.

Re: The what's bothering you RIGHT NOW thread Part V

I'm having some symptoms of an incoming heart attack...but I refuse to go to the hospital just for them to tell me I'm fine.
I also kinda think I deserve it...and even kind of want it.

But I just have a feeling that it'll all go away by tomorrow...so what's the point in whining about it?

Psycho, I echo Fuzzy12 and Emre22:
Please seek help now, not tomorrow.
You deserve to live -- and to live without the damage to your body (including your brain) that a not-caught-soon-enough heart attack can cause.
Call/go, and be well.
