DO be patient with your significant other when they go out to run errands or need to meet you somewhere - expect them to take at least 3 x longer than they say.

Normally I don't let people upset me.

But Don't Play Mind Games or BullSh With Me, if stress is on my mind.

Re: Dos and Don't with an AD/HDer

Don't tell me to take a deep breath and stay positive when I'm unable to focus because I can't afford the meds right now.

Don't criticize my cluttered house. If you don't like it, leave. You see a dust bunny? OMG! Don't go tell everyone that I'm "filthy" or "live like filth" when all my house is, is cluttered. Dishes are clean, bathroom is clean. Clutter isn't the same as dirty or filth. Why don't you hire a maid for me to come clean my house? That would be awesome.

Don't antagonize me and then play the victim when I get up in your face and go whine to everyone that I'm being "mean" or worse; "that ADD medication is making her aggressive" when I'm NOT aggressive....I'm setting boundaries.

Re: Dos and Don't with an AD/HDer

Yes deff dont tell an ADDer where things are at... Because I think I just threw away my pink slip for my vehicle! And it sucks because i barely paid it off and now its lost! I musta thrown it out when i was throwing away a bunch of papers i had sitting on my desk i probably mistaken it for trash... I honestly am afraid to even tell my parents that i already lost the pink slip. When i think about it, i even panic cause i really dont know what i have to do. Im probly gonna go to dmv soon tho. maybe ill get another 1.

Don't ask me watcha thinking? I always have to say nothing. No place to start, and I couldn't keep up with my thoughts to tell you

Don't ask me "we jut had this conversation" remember?

Don't ask me what would you like to do

Re: Dos and Don't with an AD/HDer

If I should tell you that I have ADHD, don't say things like "Don't get hyper" when I get upset. It's not funny, and it's inappropriate.

That comment is so true! If non adder's really understood the sometimes tortuous nature of how our brains can function , there would be a lot more empathy 😁

Re: Dos and Don't with an AD/HDer

I honestly thought through most of my life that my brain is 'special' and it worked so differently from anyone else's, and I read a few of these characteristics and am relieved to find out I'm not so alone in my quirks as I originally thought. I'm just laughing so hard at other people describing my day to day habits. Ha
