Back to the thread...no I don't tell anybody, it's none of their business
You can hang onto your cape, i have my own. Except it has a zipper, and a hood. With a bunch of pins and diy patches. And a secret flask pocket sewn on the inside right. That sucker screams "I HAVE ADHD AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE IT".

Thanks, though

Mine has detachable faux leopard trim but it also has a handy front pocket for emergency pens. Are you a member of The Used by any chance?

I don't generally tell people I guess.

I'll mention it when I goof sometimes... Oops, ADD moment there.

nope, i suck too bad to be in a band. I thought meds would give me the amazing ability to play better*, but so far no dice. So i just play with myself. i keep emergency pens in the side pocket of bdu's so i don't get poked in my belly, i hate that.

Detachable faux leopard trim? Rawk! Didn't King Missile do a song about that?

*not really

Re: Do you tell people you have ADD?

I try to tell people. All the people I have told either forget or don't seem to care. But I hardly ever tell people not because I'm ashamed but because I know that it won't make things better.

I have read a lot on these forums, about people leary of telling employers..I would agree, not because I think its a bad thing, I think people are ignorant to their own standards, and feel you must astain a certain social ethic in the workplace, and obviously how could this be done if you had ADD?
Well I am here to tell them all..that is crap..I may not shout from the roof tops..but I just passed my last set of boards, and I am off the hook ADD! I am practicing, have had to issue getting liability for my practice, and feel proud to have accomplished this..those initials behind my name, were a proud moment..but now its the real world, and those who suffer more than I.
But I am curious..if you have ADD, like I do..do you hide it from those you are closest too..you see my husband knows me no other way..so is this what it is like for others? My daughter has ADD, and of course we act just alike, but he does not know I am on meds. He thinks I am just me..the girl who has to have the pillows neat, and the floor vacumed, three times a week.
So, if you don't say anything, would they notice a difference on meds? maybe?
Don't get me wrong, he could care less..we've been together 20 years..and not once has a day gone by, he doens't smile and say..YEP..thats why I love ya(for whatever random thing I am doing).
So, if you feel you can...let me know..do you share?

Re: Do you tell people you have ADD?

Its all a matter of whether or not I'm comfortable sharing that information with a friend. Most friends aren't close enough to me for me to feel comfortable telling.

It's defintely not something I reveal at work as it would change the way my supervisors percieve me.

I don't openly discuss this with my entire family, but I have a sister that I've been very close to and we've shared many an ADHD story.

That's me. I have told a few close friends, my parents, sister, daughter and wife. I've caught myself starting to blurt it out, as you say, impulsively. I've had a habit for years blurting out too much information to the wrong people. I hope, now that I've been diagnosed, can learn to stop doing this (and that maybe the meds will help if they help me recognize and catch impulsivity).
