I'm starting to think he didn't take his meds today...

Second day of school, and I cannot keep this kid on task today at all! My parents are quite involved with his school, and they told me he seemed "out there" today, unable to focus.

Since we got home, I've had to pull him down off the TOP of the playhouse, out of a tree, and try to make him stand still while he asked for some juice. He hasn't been able to make eye contact at all so far, and has been either running or talking a mile a minute!

At least I have a reminder today of why he needs his medication... Now I just need to make sure he gets it in and swallowed every morning. (I think he spit it out when I wasn't looking. He said something about not swallowing it, and then a few seconds later said "oh wait, yes I did.")

It does sound like maybe he skipped it. Does he have a problem taking his meds? Can you remind me how old he is?

Reading your 1st post made me smile you certainly know when you've got a hyper kid. I think its amazing how the meds make such a difference and in such a short space of time. Good luck for tomorrows meds

Re: I'm starting to think he didn't take his meds today...

He's 5. It's usually not a problem taking the meds, I just think that yesterday he decided to spit it out for some reason. Today was back to no issue taking them, one sip of milk and it was down.

He used to have problems with taking the capsules, mainly because he didn't know how to swallow them. Then they'd dissolve in his mouth and he'd spit them out because of the bad taste. But this is the first time it's happened since the first week.

Oh well. He's back on track today, I hope. *heh*

Well I pick him up from my parents' place in about three hours, so here's hoping it went well.

The bad news: his ped had to cancel the appointment at the end of this month. No idea when he'll be available next. I need to get DS in soon though... Just filled his last month of his prescription.

Re: I'm starting to think he didn't take his meds today...

Call and ask if they can write one without having to see him. My son's doctor will do that if we've been on the same med for awhile and it's working well, or if she knows we'll be in soon for a med check, but we don't have enough to get us through.

Re: I'm starting to think he didn't take his meds today...

Yeah, I may have to find out. It wouldn't be a huge deal if he'd been on it for awhile, but he only started biphentin back in June. So this is really his first month in school on meds.

We still have 32 capsules, so I have a little leeway.
