Re: Once diagnosed, how much can your life improve/change with ADHD treatment?
Quote:
I've gotten my timing down to where I take it when I first get to work, so I check e-mail and do menial stuff for an hour while it kicks in. That gets me through the work day with close to full effect, and gives me a few hours of clear thinking in the evening with enough time to wind down for bed. I had to quit coffee though... bad anxiety with the caffeine/amphetamine combo. Once I went off the coffee I realized I needed to seriously up my vyvanse dose though. I didn't think it would happen, but it looks like I may be one of those cases that needs a 100 mg dose for proper effectiveness. I've considered getting a tiny 10mg IR Adderall prescription for the afternoons, but I may not need it if I get the vyvanse dose correct without the caffeine. One thing at a time. |

Re: Once diagnosed, how much can your life improve/change with ADHD treatment?
Hi emptycanvas!
You're in the right place. I think a key word is "support". Whether it be meds, counseling, coaching, family, friends, this board, ect... In my opinion, "support" is key. Especially since we learn new tips and tricks and forget or don't implement them. The support is what helps us up and gets us back on track. I am in the same boat as you and just embarking on this whole journey at the age of 38. Your story is just like mine, and a lot of people on this board. Just learning about ADHD has helped me understand myself better. Before I just judged myself and thought i was completely hopeless. Here's to brighter days! ![]()
