Brain fog after long term Vyvanse use? Other causes?

I have been on Vyvanse for 2 years and recently I have had to stop due to awful brain fog from stimulants. I can't figure out why or what is going on but I'm not me and it won't go away. I've gone as far as getting a CT scan and blood work which both came back fine. Has anyone suffered from this? I'm in good health, don't smoke, etc.

Could it be a case of the wrong medication?

Re: Brain fog after long term Vyvanse use? Other causes?

I have been off Vyvanse for two weeks now and I still am having brain fog. It was worse when I was on it. It started coming on and so I quit taking my prescription because I could not stand how I felt. I still get it but it is not as strong as it was. I am truly at a loss. I have never had it before in my life and I have been dealing with it for over a month now. I do not feel as sharp, I can't think correctly, and I feel confused often. I'm only 27

Could you be a bit more specific? What thoughts are going on in your head when this happens? How long after taking Vyvanse does this effect begin, and how long does the effect last? Does it come with any physical side effects?

Yes, when you say brain fog as a result of vyvanse, what do you mean?

Re: Brain fog after long term Vyvanse use? Other causes?

You may need a more thorough workup by the doctor. Other conditions that
can cause brain fog are:

anemia
depression
diabetes
Sjögren syndrome
migraines
Alzheimer’s disease
hypothyroidism
autoimmune diseases such as lupus, arthritis, and multiple sclerosis
dehydration

Other factors may include:

alcoholism
allergies
anxiety
brain injuries
brain tumors
chronic fatigue syndrome
depression
diabetes
fibromyalgia
hormone imbalances
lime disease
over sleeping
over working
stress

Now before you point out that you had a clear and free cat scan, I would say
that my mom had a cat scan and an mri and both were clear and free. Later
a tech took a scan that covered the brain stem as well as the brain ... and
there it was at the base of her brain ... a tumor that had spread from her
female organs.

Is it possible that you've added something to your diet or medical regime that
could be interacting with your Vyvanse? Check www. drugs. com for things
that interact with Vyvanse. Even something as simple as drinking an extra
cup of coffee each day can impede stimulant meds.

Good luck figuring this out and feeling better. I have migraine disorder and
fibromyalgia myself so I understand how brain fog impairs daily function.
