x_dream_of_rain - Cleveland, OH

Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself.

I'm an 18 year old, college student who has recently finished her third semester of college, who also was only diagnosed this past summer. I'm a Political Science and Biology major, I plan on going to law school and getting a Masters of Public Health. School is...difficult, sometimes...but I'm looking forward to next semester because it will be better because I know how to deal with things better now.

Basically, my ADHD wasn't noticed until recently because when I was in High School (and other younger schools) I didn't need to pay attention to learn anything because it was all really easy. However, once I got to college I noticed that I couldn't get work done and I couldn't get my work done. I figured it was just a lack of dedication on my part, so I tried and tried...and couldn't do much better. I still didn't think anything of it, I was just dissapointed in myself. Then this summer one of my friends was diagnosed (similar issue), I still didn't think anything, but when I went to a psychologist concerning depression and anxiety, she wanted to test me for ADHD (on top of eventually coming to the conclusion that the things I was there for were also problems). After fighting with my parents a bit, and seeing the psychiatrist, I went on Adderall (that was about 2 months ago). Things have been better...but I'm still trying to learn how to deal with it. Thankfully I have a friend who is dealing with basically the same thing as I am...and I've found other people on campus who've been dealing with the same thing, and I've found the resources that they have for students with "disabilities" (I hate that word, I also possibly can't spell it).

Anyway, that's my deal. Just wanted to introduce myself.
