Reptilian Executive Function

This thread discussion is meant to consecutively explore and compare reptilian executive function (REF), mammalian executive function (MEF), and human executive function (HEF).

Re: Reptilian Executive Function

REF = reptilian brain?

REF + MEF = mammalian brain?

REF + MEF + HEF = human brain?

Yes.

In this thread, I want to discuss about the reptilian executive function (REF), the mammalian executive function (MEF), and the human executive function. (Consecutively)

Some general questions like...

-How does the REF "work" in reptiles?

-How does the REF, and the MEF "work" in mammals?

-How does the REF, the MEF, and the HEF "work" in humans?

Etc...

Re: Reptilian Executive Function

Which types of animals have executive systems? Which ones are purely operating from instinct?

I think some executive systems have become more complex than others.

Example, some reptiles have tiny little limbic systems.

But even HEF require less complex REF and MEF to "work".

What types of animals have executive systems in your opinion?

This thread discussion is focusing on reptiles, mammals, and humans.

Reptiles, mammals and humans have similar instinctual core executive systems.

Example,

REF, MEF, and HEF have primary instinctual dopaminergic pathways that promote general motivation/enthusiasm for life.
