Re: Adderall Has no Affect

You may want to talk to your psychiatrist about changing medication. Adderall works for some and may not for other people.

Re: Adderall Has no Affect

There are many different drug options for ADD/ADHD. You should definitely discuss trying a different one. During discussions with my surgeon before several surgeries I have had, he informed me about research being done to connect different drug families to DNA. They are finding that there is a link between our DNA and drugs that are more effective with each of us. Hope they do more with this. Maybe then doctors can place us with the right "family" from the beginning. I was put on Vyvance first and it definitely didn't work for me. Adderall is working wonderfully. I have been on it since November 2011.

Has it ever worked?

I was a little confused reading your post:

Threw me for a loop.

If it used to work and no longer does, I would say that sounds like you've built a pretty high tolerance and should maybe take a break or change medications entirely.

If it has never worked for you, I would say you might want to change medications regardless.

Either way, tell your doctor exactly what problems or concerns you are having and I am sure they would be more than willing (from my experience anyway) to help you find what works best.

And as a word of caution, I would warn against dramatically changing your dosage of any medication without consultation.

Could be very dangerous. I won't elaborate but know that you are not alone and I personally feel your frustration at the moment with ineffective medication, just hang tough and talk to your doctor.
