Seroquel not work for sleep?

Hi, I take seroquel for sleep and suppose cyclothmic bipolar.

50 mg use to knock me out beautifully.

Now 6 months later around 200mg of seroquel is not knocking me down, what gives?

30mg dex, 1mg Ativan, 20mg Prozac, 100-200 seroquel .

My doctor questioned me as to why I run out of seroquel so fast when I'm only prescribed 25/50 mg.

Re: Seroquel not work for sleep?

because over 200 mg it starts to behave more like an antipsychotic (i took 800 mg and it didn't sedate me when i was on it) instead of an antihistamine.

this is counterintuitive as most antipsychotics are sedating at higher levels. i take clozaril and it knocks me down hard at night when i'm taking the full dosage.

anyway, try going back to the lower dose and that might make it work for you again.

Re: Seroquel not work for sleep?

I'll second what Peri says... the higher the dose, the less sedation you have. Does your doc know you self administered doses other than what was prescribed?
