Hi CAHE,
I don't know of any Doctors in northern MI that specialize in ADD, because I live in SE MI. But if you're willing to come down to Auburn Hills or Pontiac you could see Dr. Neel Jolepalem. I saw him until I was 18 or 19. There are also a few more specialists and informational programs in the Fox Center right next to the MIRO center and St. Joe's Hospital (might me St. Mary's I can't remember). There is a lot of good shopping in Auburn Hills, so you could spend the day down here. Dr. Neel Jolepalem 888 Woodward, Ste 405 Pontiac, MI 48341 (248) 335-4010 This is his main office, but he also spends part of a couple days a week at the Fox Center. Dr. Wunch is another specialist at the Fox Center, who runs the PASS program. It is an informational program so parents can learn more about ADD on the chemical/neural level and so also behaviorally. His number is (248) 858-6023 Hope this helps |

Re: Reference For Local Doctors
I am attempting to get a single place for people to go when they are looking for professional in their region to help with ADD - if you know a good reputable health care practitioner that treats adults with ADD by all mean do share - if one really really sucks then by all means do share that to -
With that said: Please be advised readers are responsible for all research into any and all health care professionals as well as baring the sole responsibility for final ADD treatment decisions. ADDF doesn't recommend or endorse any one and all opinions shared by the member are the opinions of that member and in no way reflects the opinion of ADDF as a community Although I won't delete recommendations for children I am mostly looking for adult ADD care In the mean time I do have a collection of directories located in the diagnosis section than may be of use to some Where Can I Find a Health Care Professional? |

Re: Reference For Local Doctors
May I also suggest Dr. Aaron Goldner? I came across him online through CHADD.org. I wouldn't be covered if seeing him but would see him if so.
http://www.aarongoldner.com/index.html A Michigan native, Dr. Goldner is a 2006 graduate of the Michigan School of Professional Psychology doctoral program in clinical psychology (formerly the Center for Humanistic Studies--CHS). In addition to his Psy.D. (Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree), Dr. Goldner also possesses a Master of Arts in Education from University of Detroit Mercy, a Specialist Degree in Clinical Psychology from CHS (this is a masters degree equivalent), and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. Dr. Goldner has worked with children, adolescents and adults in many contexts: He has a background and training as a school teacher, and has clinical experience, academic and professional training, and life experience working with children from age 5 and up. During his early college years, Dr. Goldner was a Resident Assistant whose responsibilities included helping younger undergraduates adjust to college and dormitory life. Upon his return to Michigan, he joined the staff of the Roeper School Learning Resource Center where he worked with academically challenged middle and high school children. He found that issues of self-esteem, depression and anxiety were key ingredients in these childrens' difficulties. It was this experience that redirected Dr. Goldner's professional life from art to clinical psychology, focusing on the fears and problems of children, teens and young adults. He has since brought these lessons to older adults as well. In addition to his professional qualifications, Dr. Goldner brings to his clients an empathy and personal understanding of what they are experiencing emotionally and academically having, himself, been diagnosed with ADHD at a very early age. It is his mission to help others overcome the hurdles that he has overcome and in the process bring lessons of hope and healing to those who feel like giving up. To this day, the concept of resilience is one of the core qualities I teach my clients. As Bruce Lee once said, it is okay for a man to get knocked down 8 times as long as he gets up 9. |

Re: Reference For Local Doctors
If you're so inclined, I've got one to add to the list for West Michigan (Grand Rapids):
Oren Mason, M.D. Name of practice: Attention MD Unlike a lot of pdocs I've had the misfortune of seeing through the years, Dr. Mason actually *has* ADHD-PI, so he really does understand it. He handles adults and children, has authored a pretty helpful book on ADD & medications, and won't try to waste your time telling you to try diet & exercise first. He medicates, and does so *very* well. Oh, and he's not afraid to give adults an adult-sized dose. His office doesn't direct-bill insurance companies, so you'll have to shuffle paperwork for your ins. provider to get reimbursed, but once you see him once or twice you won't care. I pay $100 for an office visit and just deal with the paperwork with Blue Cross later--he's just plain worth the trouble, frankly. |
