Sorrow/Apathy from Concerta

I am curious if this is commonly experienced by those on Concerta.. I trialed it at 18 and 36mg dosages and found within an hour after ingesting I felt a "soul-crushing" sensation, like I was dying inside. I felt much better on the days I did not take the medication, so in short time just stopped altogether. Anyone else feel anything similar?

Re: Sorrow/Apathy from Concerta

I have the same problem, it's actually what brought me to this forum.
For me it would happen around 6 hours from taking it.

I'm not sure what you'd define as soul crushing but I get a empty feeling and sort of a emotional detachment, I would say that it feels a lot like it did when I had depression a few years back.

Sometimes when people are not suited for the methylphenidate class of drugs, they feel like this.

Re: Sorrow/Apathy from Concerta

It's difficult to tell whether it's working or not. After 4 hours I've noticed an inability to think and coordination trouble worse than baseline, to which IMO I cannot say it's even worth taking at all. Indeed it seems some just don't respond well to this class of medication..

Re: Sorrow/Apathy from Concerta

I hated the feelings I had on Concerta. The depression was awful. Sorrowful is a very good description actually. Find another medication!

Indeed this is what I'm leaning towards... How do you like Strattera and Wellbutrin XL together?

Re: Sorrow/Apathy from Concerta

Now it's good but the first two days were awful! I felt very off and was very, very off. I thought I was doing things normally but clearly I wasn't. I was very tremulous which was annoying and a little scary. I also had a lot of trouble sleeping but wasn't really tired which was weird. I feel much better after 1-1.5 weeks.

Now I notice that I am not that hungry and have to push myself to eat. Not like I was on Concerta though! Eating was actually difficult then.

Re: Sorrow/Apathy from Concerta

I tried wellbutrin and strattera together. It's an awesome combo. I took 300mg wellbutrin and 40mg strattera was enough. It didn't help me with motivation, impulsivity or focus though, it just was the best anti-depressant combo I've ever tried.
