No problem falling asleep, but waking up after 4-ish hours of sleep?

I've been doing it quite a bit lately (as in the past week) here was my schedule today in case maybe the adderall is causing it:

6:00am wake up, first dose 20mg adderall
9:30am second dose 20mg adderall
2:00pm third dose 20mg adderall
1:30am asleep
6:30am awake

I almost never wake up before 8am so today was the exception since I purposely woke up at 6am, but for the past couple of weeks I've been routinely waking up in the middle of my night. I'll just go to roll over or something and all of a sudden I'm wide awake and can't get back to sleep. Usually falling asleep is no problem at all since I'm usually pretty tired by the time I get to bed so I don't think it's the adderall, but what do you all think?

Probably part of it is my sleep schedule, or lack thereof... but that's kind of unavoidable at this point since my shifts run 3pm-7am 2-3x a week. Usually when I get home I'll take a nap to get through the day and I fall asleep no problem at a normal time around 10pm-ish and after that my sleep schedule is pretty much normal until I have to work again. This issue of waking up in the middle of the night has only happened a couple times before and I've been working this same job for 3 years so I don't think my schedule is really that much of an issue.

Anyway I'm thinking about going to my doctor to ask about some sort of sleep aid, but I thought I'd check here first just for information and see if anyone else has this problem and if there was anything you could do to fix it.

Thanks for any info.

Same kinda thing happens to me quite often, my remedy is just to take a tylenol/advil PM or benadryl. 20mins after I take one, I pass-out pretty hard (I usually take two), but make sure you can get a good 6-8hrs of sleep if you take one, or you'll have a hangover the next day.

This has never happened to me in the past, but it has started to happen recently. But its probably more attributed to me being a pretty light sleeper.

I wake up on a dime for the most part. And even if I'm tired and I wake up, I can just get up and be up for the day no problem - though, extremely tired if I don't take my adderall (and still tired even then sometimes).

I take clonidine to sleep, and I have been taking melatonin with it as well sometimes - I kind of like having some pretty vivid dreams. Nothing like blowing away some Taliban in your dreams.

OH man I just noticed that also for myself! Sometimes i roll over and its almost like my thoughts have shifted. I say to myself, "crap, I can't believe I just opened my eyes. crap now I'm talking out loud. CRAP now I'm awake!! !@*!&@(!*&!" and this continues because I'm thinking about it so much and trying to focus on why I'm not comfortable or tired... etc.
