Why don't we petition shire to remanufacture dextrostat?

if we get enough people on here to e-sign a petition to shire to bring back brand name dexedrine in a small or limited supply run, maybe theyll feel inclined to HELP patients?

then if they dont respond, well just tell the world that a huge pharmaceutical doesn't really care about a small group of patients enough to make a medication available because there wasn't enough profit, then we rally at shire HQ or manufacturing plants--- nothin like the scene of an angry mob of amphetamine addicts all collected together at an amphetamine factory, united and driven with single minded purpose towards the same exact goal lol j/k

but really maybe a petition from the addforums might do something?

Well, since you've phrased it as a question, I'll answer: It seems unlikely that it would have any effect. Of course, I don't know for certain, but Shire is a private company, not a public agency. As such, I don't think they're especially susceptible to petitions or mob actions.

Then too, given all the hostility against Shire that I've seen in so many posts on these forums, I'm not sure there'd be anything like unanimous willingness among some forum users to give more business to Shire.

But hey, it might be worth a try. Personally, I'd like to see more competition in the market. That's the best safeguard against abuses by a single company, and it's driven by natural market forces...without the need for interference by the bureaucrats. Besides...what's the worst that can happen? They'll ignore you and other prospective customers? Seems like they're already doing a pretty good job of that, according to some of the posts I've read.

dextrostat was the most potent dexedrine ive ever had. longest lasting, best quality (10mg was 10mg, not like generics that are 8mg), and it was the best add med ever for me. shire would definitely make somethin outta this considerin the situation. and i think dex users would also give shire a try considering its better than any other dex recently produced. but i just wanted to see if anyone might be interested in doing this, and we dont have to make it from addforums if it would be negative, it could be a website online where we all register/digitally e-sign and then publicly send it over the web and directly to shire???

I believe that Shire sold all the rights and ownership of Dextrostat to Barr. If that is true then you can petition all you want but it won't be happening.

There is a compnay , Mikart, in Atlanta, who were cleared by the FDA and the DEA ( I assume about the DEA, they stick their long, pointy, self-impressed noses into any schedule 2 drug and all about it) ....to manuafture dex IR in 7 strengths ...from 2.5 to 30 mg......and we have been waiting less than patiently to the stuff to be distributed.....


the last I heard was that it should be available sometime this summer .....but then there's Mikart having it finished and out .....but then there's the unseen, incrediably powerful, not to mention completely mysterious and unaccountable dreaded "distribution" companies.....

the distribution companies set the prices and dictate who gets what when....


those are the folks we should be finding out about ......


but sooner or later, there is another company making dex IR, and will be releasing it .....

Perhaps it would be quicker to appeal to a company (Covidien) that already has received approval to manufacture the ER caps and IR tabs that CorePharma and Teva have been unable to supply.

The return of Mallinckrodt which is the parent to Covidien. They made a high-quality generic then stopped a few years ago. I tried the 5mg spansules and had no complaints.
