Re: Something Fun I'm Looking Forward To Is...

I'm going up to the mountains today with a bunch of people.
I don't usually like going on group outings...but damn how things have changed for me over the last half a year! And I'm really trying to push my boundaries and be open to trying new things.
My therapy center does tons of things with the "clients"...taking them to yellowstone, or on scenic drives, or taking them to different towns around the state to do fun things like visiting museums and such. You need to bring enough money to eat out and if you want to do any shopping or anything, but they provide transportation, any fees (like the fee to get into national parks), and the occasional hotel (they don't take very many over night trips).
They also typically pack lots of sandwiches, snacks and drinks and will have picnics instead of eating out...so you don't even usually need any money at all to really enjoy these trips (they l et you know like a month in advance if you need to put any money away for the trips).

When I first joined this therapy facility I had tons of social anxiety issues, and going on such outings with people would've tore me up badly. There's no way!
So it just never got brought up...no one even needed to ask me if I wanted in on these groups. And I didn't. I would've declined.

But dang...like I said...I've been going through a lot of change these last 6'ish months.
And now I'm starting to actively look for more social activities to do.
So I got all signed up to start doing these groups too...and this is my first activity with them .

It's a fun trip really. I've taken it many times with my mom. We drive up to the very top of the mountains, and back down the otherside. But in between there's 3 or 4 big lakes...and we usually stop at each one just to enjoy them for a little while.
There's also lots and lots of picnic tables and such set up around these lakes, so tomorrow we'll find one that's under a bunch of shade and have a picnic.
It's just a fun, scenic, slow ride that I've been lucky enough to enjoy since I was a kid.

lol this post turned out quite long! haha >.<'

Anyhow...I'm looking forward to it.
I'm glad I'm stretching out slowly beyond my comfort zone and continue to explore more and more social activities.

Re: Something Fun I'm Looking Forward To Is...

I'm going to celebrate Christmas this year!

I haven't let myself get really into Christmas in many years...but I kinda sorta hope to go all out this year!

I'm going to put up my christmas tree this weekend...it's really quite pretty. It's white and I decorate it with lots and lots of green and red ornaments.
I'm also going to be buying a really neat set of christmas lights for the tree this year! They look like snowflakes are are led lights that can change different colors...and the lights have songs built in and will flash and change colors in sync to the music!

And...OMG /cry! They're out o stock on Amazon. I was so planning on making a purchase tomorrow on thursday just as soon as I got paid. They were just in stock yesterday! lol dang, I'm going to be super sad if they don't get them back in stock...I've been looking forward to these lights for a month now!

...
I also have some window decorations I'm going to put up, and just as soon as I figure out how to hang things on my metal front door (any ideas?) I want to hang a sign up outside my door and maybe a few other festive decorations.

Then I'm going to dust of my porcelain christmas village and get that looking nice again.

I've also been picking up littling things or myself at the stores. Little toys and such...some legos, and some blind bags, and some goofy robot thing where you get random parts of a battle robot...but you don't know what pieces and parts you get till you open up the package...lol, I know it's totally for kids, but it looks fun...and I AM a kid!

TOTALLY planning on wrapping everything up and putting them under my tree this year! I'm even going to buy myself a stocking and help Santa fill that up too! haha

And I've been wanting this camera for YEARS. It sounds so super fun to me. It's an instant camera, so it prints photos out directly from the camera itself...and they're cute business card sized photos and they're also stickers so you can stick the photos on things or into journals and such...plus you can connect the camera to your phone/computer/tablet through blue tooth and use it as a mobile printer...I'm fully planning on figuring out a way to come up with the money to help Santa get me it for christmas this year!
I think the hardest part with it...is not opening it until christmas! haha
Polaroid Snap Touch

...OH!! And I have this SUPER cute Santa hat that has Rudolf on it, and his nose lights up lmao...I'm SO planning on wearing it around all of november and december.

I also bought a really cute penguin pin yesterday that has a bunch of (glass) jewels that I'm going to start wearing lol.

I haven't really celebrated Christmas in many years. I don't like to talk about it as I feel it makes me super spoiled sounding...but my parents stopped trying to make christmas day special of fun for me many years ago...up to the point where we didn't even put up trees or doing gifts or anything the last couple of years my mom was still around.
Me and my dad didn't even do a meal or anything last year.

Now that I'm no longer tied down to my parents...I'm planning on really just letting myself go this year. Just cause I don't have anyone real close to celebrate with...doesn't mean I can't celebrate!

Re: Something Fun I'm Looking Forward To Is...

Absolutely psycho! Go for it!

My son-in-law died in early December, it will be 3 years next month.
My oldest granddaughter turned 18 right after, graduated in May,
and moved to Kansas City. Christmas hasn't been the same since.

I had just bought new tree lights that were all the rage at that time.
Haven't used them. Was hoping my granddaughter and her roomies
could spend Christmas here this year, but none of their cars are up
for the long drive, so we'll probably drive up there again.

That's okay. I can spend hours in the IKEA store up there.

Happy Halloween Everybody!

Re: Something Fun I'm Looking Forward To Is...

Also, I went shopping a bit more today...and one of the stores was selling a lego advent calendar.
I've been wanting to do one of these for years...I just think it's such a cute idea!
They do a yearly star wars one...and I love star wars...but I cheated this year and watched a youtube video of a guy showing everything that came in it...and I just wasn't impressed.

But anyhow I was at a store and they had a different one for the Lego "City" line...and I'm not sure what all comes in this one...but on the box it shows a snowman mini figure, a christmas tree, a little lego dog mini figure...and a red santa mini figure! lol...if it actually comes with a santa, that'll be SUPER cute!

It was the last one they had on the shelf...and they typically sell for $30 which is pretty pricey for me...but for some reason they had it on sell for $21 today.

So why not!? I splurged and picked it up!

IS IT DECEMBER YET!?! lol

I just e-mailed the company that makes these lights directly and asked if there was any chance they'll have any more in stock this year.
They told me no...
BUT...they do have some they keep for replacements...and that he'd be happy to sell me one of those units.
So I called him, and while on the phone he made 1 of the lights available on amazon where I was able to quickly add it to my cart and check out.

Was very cool of him, and I'm super grateful!
My lights should be here monday or tuesday!!

SO happy now! I was so bummed out that these lights went out of stock...especially because they did so just 1 day before I was ready to make the purchase haha.

This is going to be a good holiday for me! <3

Re: Something Fun I'm Looking Forward To Is...

My dad is really wanting to take me to Las Vegas towards the end of May. I'm not holding my breath...my dad is absolutely famous for making big plans and getting everyone super excited about it...and then abruptly changing his mind.
Only to change his mind half a dozen times afterwards...never knowing which way things will turn out in the end.
I even told him on the phone last time I talked to him that I know he's excited about it...but I can't be because he's way too wishy washy for me to trust. He seemed hurt by my words...but good lord I can't tell you the number of times I've gotten super excited to do things with him...only for him to crush me.

But I am doing a bit of research...and there are SO many fun things I could do in Vegas besides gambling (I don't enjoy gambling much. I have casinos near where I live...one is only about 15 miles away...yet I haven't been to any of them in a couple of years. I just don't enjoy throwing my money away like that).

I wish my mom was still around /cry. We wanted to do a Vegas trip and make it the top of our priority to find as many free things to do as we could take advantage of lol.
She could be SO much fun to be with on stuff like this! (my dad is sometimes fun..but a lot of the time he's just a grump and it's hard to be too happy around him).

But hotels are cheap...if we book soon, we can get rooms for under $55 a night (we'd each need a separate room)...there's lots of amazing places to eat, some really cool attractions (free!) to check out (like circus acts and the Circus Circus casino, or the water show at the Bellagio, or the amazing Fremont Street experience...which also has tons of street performers and even concerts most the time), lots of fun places to shop (diabetes be damned! M&M World is towards the top of my "must check out" list! lol).
And I don't know...there's all sorts of cool things I'd love to check out.

Like I said...I can't hold my breath on this or get too excited about it...I'd be dumb to let myself...but it is something I'll be researching a bit.
I'd LOVE to go to Vegas 1 more time in my life (went when I was like 16'ish like 20 years ago)...and this very well could be my dad's last major vacation.
He just bought himself a new car he's itching to get out on the road...and I guess he's got the money put away for the trip.
So we'll see.

That sounds like it could be really fun. When I went to Vegas with friends, all
they wanted to do was gamble. Boring.
