I was able to maintain "some" calmness while at my moms by using deep breathing techniques.

I got writing some thank you notes done with. I hate writing them. Seriously. Like I can't even describe how much I HATE writing thank you notes. It's like fifty weights have lifted off my shoulder after I sent them off.

I had to write 8 thank you cards to people at my internship. That was like 60lbs lifted off my shoulders.

I spent the whole day convincing myself I was going to fail my math exam, only to finish the test with no question left unanswered.

Re: Small Successes

I went on a jog/walk and listened to my favorite music. I went up some new streets and found the most gorgeous view of my town. I was also true to myself today with my thoughts. I wasn't hard on myself. I wasn't afraid to say no. Also didn't let myself get ashamed by some of the things little things I experienced mildly perplexed reactions from. eh, whatever. I didn't mean what you're thinking, whatever that is get used to it. forget about it, because I'm not going to dwell on it.

Re: Small Successes

This is no small success; this is a major, shout-from-the-rooftops, jump-for joy success (for me, at least)!

After eight years of trying...I have made baguettes!

No, seriously. Not just bread in the shape of a baguette--that's easy. (Besides, I have a baguette pan, so it's idiot-easy.) Not just the crunchy crust and chewy middle, either. I'm talking about baguettes that feel, smell, and taste like the ones I had all the time while I was in Paris.

If you've ever tasted a well-loved food after years of not having it, you'll know what I'm feeling.

The only down side is that I was making them for a going-away party tomorrow, and I needed something to serve with the baba ganoush and hummus I'd already made. But I want to eat it all NOW!

DH doesn't understand. Stef? Sandy?

Now, if only I can figure out how to accurately re-create this amazing feat....

Re: Small Successes

I built a water slide for my daughter this morning: Ran to the store, bought a small inflatable pool, filled it with air and water, attached a garden watering wand to the top of her play house so the slide get wet, called her friend's parents and invited them over this evening so the kids can play after the sun is at a less brutal angle and the slide area is in the shade, and picked up the paint I need to finish the skate board ramp I'm building for her in the back yard.
