Trust me, it just isnt NT GAY women. NT straight women (and men) are just as vapid.

I would also only date an ADHD or Bipolar woman

Also any belief that gay people have more mental disorders is homophobic.
ADHD is not a mental health disorder, it is a neurological disorder.

Also, there is evidence that GID (gender identity disorder) is much more common in those with Autism (also a neurological disorder)- that's some food for thought.

Asking if people with neurological differences might approach gender or sexuality differently is not homophobic at all, but I would propose that stating that is homophobic is in fact ableist.

The "problem" with being gay is that you have such a small segment of the population to choose from to begin with. There are cool and interesting NT's (some of them are my friends! but maybe they just aren't diagnosed yet ) but their numbers are quite small compared to the general population. Finding a cool NT gay person- it's like finding a needle in a haystack. There's just not enough to go around!

But I'm with you- I can't think of a single NT, gay or straight, male or female, who I could be in a relationship with.

Re: Gay Men/ADHD

Yeah, I hear you. You're looking at maybe 3% of women being gay or bi and only at most 15% of those being neurodiverse....

Which makes 9 in every 2000 women you meet being suitable candidates.

BEfore consideratio of wheter they are single, wheter you find them attractive, whether they find YOU attractive, compatible personalities, age....

****.

Julian,
I am not gay, however, I am bisexual. I think it would be a great idea to have a forum like that so that the issues of homosexuality relating to ADHD and studies.

I'm also gay and would be very interested to know if there's an increased chance of being both gay/bisexual and having ADHD.

Re: Gay Men/ADHD

Not to sound ignorant or homophobic but I get the gay/lesbian orientation as my daughter is a lesbian and married a wonderful woman who I adore but I just don't understand the bisexual thing. Do bisexual individuals who like both men and women do they like one or the other more or the same. Sorry if it is dumb question, but I was curious..

There's a whole spectrum, and desire doesn't necessarily equal reality. I'm sure there are bisexual men who prefer women but actually end up in the sack with men more often since they're easier!

Re: Gay Men/ADHD

I am bisexual but I don't see myself as gay or straight and personally think it is self hate to divide myself into percentages. I fall in love and am monogamous. I am used to people not understanding bisexuality and being biphobic but there are a lot of things called bisexual that really aren't at all. I tend to only have success dating other bisexuals. I have similar experiences and hobbies with straight men and grew up training in judo with them and they accept me no matter which relationship I am in and when I have fallen in love with either, we tend to step up and get confrontational when people call us straight or gay.

The reason it is hard to understand is because of the poor examples of it displayed by the media. Plus, in my area, if you try to go into a gay community center and identify as bisexual after awhile, they reject us. However, we are everywhere and secure. The love I felt was just as intense with both and they had a hard line stance like myself but he ended up with traumatic brain injury and snapped and she had a miscarriage. I can't say who I will fall for next but I stick within the bisexual pool because it isn't fair to either of us and the success rate is very low.

When it comes to the brokeback mountain, transitional bisexuals and women that kiss to impress straight men at parties, those of us that are serious about our visibility and our community being seen in a respectful light treat them a lot worse than those of the monosexual origin because all of us look like brokeback mountain, insecure and transitioning to gay or just plain promiscuous/into polyamorous type things and that isn't true. We just want to be us no matter what relationship we are in. Some are polyamorous and that is their choice, all power to them but we just fall in love. To those who have been hurt by curious folks or users or closet bi guys or anyone calling them bi, I am sorry that happened to but trust me, in my youth, I was hurt by the same types.

Re: Gay Men/ADHD

Correlation and causation are two different things

For example for all those "charming" people that don't vaccinate their children out there
The rise in organic food sales is almost identical to the rise in autism.
Obviously these things are completely unrelated, however it's not uncommon for data to be presented as such and manipulated to show things like this

Re: Gay Men/ADHD

I've thought of bringing out my "metro" side a bit more to intrigue women, without actually claiming to be bisexual. I believe this works the other way around, at least...!

Re: Gay Men/ADHD

Imo metro sexual was just a phrase invented by women who think they can dress men better than they can dress themselves.
