Good luck. TRT will definitely make you feel better. You'll need luck with the Endo though, most are Diabetes specialists & clueless about hormones. You would be better to research for a good doc in your area.

How's your sleep btw? In the last 2 years I've gone on to (slowly) find I was also low in Cortisol, Thyroid & B12. Only when I decided to tackle my life long snoring & crap sleep, did I get tested for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. Waiting for results.

Wish I'd have found all this when I was your age!!!

Good luck!

Re: testosterone levels

Dear friend, and I am very glad that I came across this forum after so many years of suffering and torment in everyday life. This forum has helped me immensely. I never thought a lack of testosterone, because I did not have erectile dysfunction and I have hair on the body. I asked asked and asked myself for the solution .....I have never been hyperactive as a child.
I finished medical school but It was not at all easy to learn for exams because I had terrible problems with concentration. I was very persistent and with the help of colleagues from the university and family and I managed to finish college. Im ortopedic surgeon resident now. After constant search for the solution I find a recognized famous international expert in my country who is also the king's doctor in the UK, very old and experienced endocrinologist who told me to go to test testosterone and now I got to where I am now.

When it came low testosterone I went and read the symptoms of hypogonadism and in 80% of the symptoms I found myself. Of course during my life I put my focus on poor concentration because It was mostly annoyed and didnt look the other symptoms.

I must note that doctors only look at lab values rather than clinical symptoms. From my experience many physicians think that if you have hair on your body and you dont have trouble achieving an erection and if you shave regularly problems with poor focus will not come from testosterone. If you had a normal puberty, in adult male to maintain the potency and to mantain the hair on the body you need very little testosterone, and the subtle changes can be seen only on the mental plane. The adrenal glands will compensate your low testosterone. That is why many people end up with a psychiatrist.

I will post my experience with TRT :-)

Re: testosterone levels

Regarding sleep, I sleep very long and do not wake up rested. Very snoring. My wife constantly complains about my snoring. When I wake up in the morning I am very pale.

Testing sleep paterns is a very good thing, let me know what are the results.

Re: testosterone levels

I know where you're coming from. I had to be diagnosed ADHD to find this forum. It was here that I read of the idea of Testosterone Deficiency.

When I went to my GP he laughed at me. He said "look at the size of you" & asked if I had ED, which I didn't. I insisted on having the blood tests & the rest is history.

The good news is that with some good advice from guys in your position (the guys on Dr Crisler's site are fantastic) & you medical knowledge & connections, you will be feeling MUCH better very soon!

LOL! Oh dear... I know your pain. I have been a terrible snorer since teens.

Get yourself a full Sleep Study. I just had an Apneagraph. I had a sensor up my nose & down my throat. It detects the position of the vibration during the night. Also an Oximeter measures blood oxygen levels.

My ENT surgeon has already indicated he wants to chop my Uvula off. I may find tomorrow that there is more

Maybe sleep deprivation is behind my low hormones & ADHD symptoms???

MastaProcrasta: Thanks for the response. could you maybe go a bit more into detail about how you felt before treatment, I have most of the symptoms of low Testosterone, which I feel are similar to ADHD PI ie. Low energy, brain fog, can't concentrate, low sex drive, no facial hair, gyno. My biggest thing, and what I was wondering most from you is, I feel my brain is under-stimulated currently, and because of it I have a really difficult time in conversation with people bcuz it's as if I can't keep up (almost like it takes me awhile to process things) and therefore, have a difficult time keeping a convo flowing. the reason I believe it's do to an understimulation is bc I used to occasionally smoke marijuana (which stimulates the brain) and when I did I had such clear thinking. I easily kept up in convos, in fact, I was able to think a few steps ahead. For the first time in my life I was able to think clear and hold convos, and the response I got from people was nothing short of AMAZING, people really engaged with me and liked me bc it was as if I had LIFE in me, I FELT ALIVE, which is not how I feel at all normally. And the best part of all was that it was so effortless, where as normally I feel I try so hard to maintain concentration and hold convos but I never can bc I can't think. I was wondering if testosterone helped you with anything like this(particularly mentally)? I would really appreciate your input, sometimes I get so down knowing what life could be like if I was able to get treatment.

Thanks so much for your help

I look forward to hearing about your experience

Nate

Re: testosterone levels

Had all the same symptoms, except gyno. was diagnosed adhd & given concerta. Thankfully found the subject of Testosterone on here & got my levels checked. They were borderline in UK, but research showed UK levels outdated, so fought for treatment. the T helped both physically & mentally. Never looked back. Don't really think about health issues these days, just get on with it. Re "gyno", sound like you need to lower your estrogen. once you get your testosterone levels checked you should start taking Zinc daily & lose as much body fat as you can. I take it you mean man-boobs, if you've got proper gyno, then that needs attention, it can be really nasty!

Best place for sound advice on hormone health is Dr John Crisler's "All things male" forum

good luck.
