The World Cup!

Lots of surprises in the past 2 days:

Mexico 1 - Germany 0
Agentina 1 - Iceland 1
Brazil 1 - Switzerland 1

the best game so far, Portugal vs spain, 3-3

france won yesterday, 2-1

More about this tomorrow

Almost! and only because of Harry Kane.
I would have really liked to see Tunisia win. So many missed goals by the UK'

I'm watching the french post-game show, all i know for today's other games is that Belgium won 3-0 vs Panama.

another surprise, Italy isn't even qualified
strange to have a world cup without your arch enemy.

you got here first
what an upset
if Iceland wins vs Nigeria tomorrow, Argentina is out
too many players who had never actually played a game together
counting on Messi to score
and a massive, costly error by the goalie

France moves on in the competition, 1-0 vs Peru v today
(teams that have won two games in their group move to the next round)

yesterday, there was a game between Russia and Iran.
it's so strange, how that was just unfathomable in the mid 80's.

so iceland is ahead of argentina; i read this article that said one of the Iceland players works in a salt factory and had to request time off work for the world cup, goodness compared to some of the stars' salaries...

Re: The World Cup!

I saw just part of the summary, i was so for iceland.
but nigeria played well and what a beautiful goal.

serbia switzerland, tied until the end! the swiss player who scored is really short, like 5"4 ( 1m63 they said) and then after the goal he just tore off his jersey and did this body builder stance. lol!

Brazil, actually it was exciting to see them pull together at the end of the game.
these big players like neymar and ronaldo, there is the questionable off the field attitude but when they are out there playing-best of the best. they have these jedi-like reflexes.
in any sport there are just a handful of players with that much talent in a generation.

it gets so confusing, i never know who is who in champions league and premier league in the first place, and then it's like, oh, so THOSE guys are all from Brazil!

tudo, it's too bad about australia. i love the team name

Re: The World Cup!

update: Germany has been eliminated!
the 2014 champions lost to South Korea yesterday, 2-0.
they finished last in their group.

Brazil pulled together, played like grown-ups, and qualified;

argentina woke up, won a brilliant game vs Nigeria yesterday; and so the first game of the next round: France vs Argentina, saturday afternoon!
