Split from science in the media thread

Lack of implicit primary motivation and secondary epigenetic implicit learning.

Focuses on tertiary self-motivation and tertiary epigenetic explicit learning, which are tertiary processing problems.

-What are the primary state/processing problems?

-What are the secondary processing problems?

What does this have to do with possible conflict of interest among
researchers in the mental health field, particularly Dr. Russell Barkley?

implicit

secondary
epigenetic

tertiary
self-motivation

processing

Sadly - none of these words make sense unless they're unambiguously used.

They have too many contexts.

What does this sentence mean ?

Quote:
It's unlikely that attempting similar behaviours will result in a worse outcome than other behaviours which may or may not be considered comparable.
If you're unable to derive the precise meaning I have in mind above - then you'll realise that the words which you're using fall victim to the same basic flaw -

- in that it's not that people aren't interested - it's that the words you've chosen aren't sufficiently unambiguous for anybody to know how to respond.

So - the response I'm hoping for in the sentence above would be ?

Quote:
Would a bicycle without a chain be a solution ?
ie similar activity with significantly better outcome ... ... considering the daily problems I'm running into with my chain.
- but there isn't a person alive who'd have gotten to the solution I'm seeking because my words weren't sufficiently precise.

In my opinion, Dr. Barkley's theory lacks extremely important neurodevelopmental factors, like bottom up implicit primary motivation, secondary epigenetic implicit learning, and the emotional environment.

Dr. Barkley focuses on tertiary self-motivation and tertiary epigenetic explicit learning, which are top down tertiary processing problems.

Dr. Barkley rarely focuses on the bottom up state/processing implicit problems, secondary implicit processing problems, as well as the emotional environment, that are crucial factors in development of top down tertiary self regulation, especially before birth and the age of 4*. (Before medication is even a treatment option*)

Dr. Barkley focuses on medication as the first line of treatment for AD(H)D (which is not a treatment option until the age of 4*) I find this perspective along with his relationship with pharmaceutical companies creates a possible conflict of interest, in regard to educating the public about possible prevention and/or lessening of severity, before birth and the age of 4*.

Re: Split from science in the media thread

We're in danger of meandering.

1. Basic science of ADHD - 'inherited' sensitivity - mechanism defined
2. Trigger of Disorder element in ADHD - distress - which ADDer child is sensitive to

So - as stated by Gabor Mate - 'canary down the mine' model - the ADDer simply expresses distress more readily than nonADDer - where chronic distress leads to what is called 'emotional self-regulation' issues - but really should be rewritten in natural language as - loss of emotional resilience or something similar - 'small adverse events' eliciting 'more extreme than useful' emotional reactions.

It's simply just the consequence of chronic distress in distress sensitive sensitizing the individual. Resilience occurs through eustress not distress - distress can be triggered through 'abuse' where 'abuse' is defined as a non-eustressful environment for child.

This will make ADHD more prominent - but regardless of the upbringing - placing ADDer child in perfectly eustressful upbringing in distressful schooling environment will trigger sensitivity to distress
in ADHD disorder.

-*-

So - the period in utero is important.
Period from 0 - 4 is important.
Period from 4- 7 is important.
Period from 7 - etc etc etc

The sole point to make is that ADDers appear to grow out of disorder because ADDers fall into an automatic environment where they're in control ie NO distress even if shifting paper from one pile onto another.
Outside of the rigours of schooling ie mass working memory usage or rote learning - ADDer can automatise learning and 'do' ... ... the disorder disappears because -

- and as stated in parallel thread.

[1] excess sensory signal sensitivity can be tuned down by putting headphones on and blocking out the external environment
[2] working memory is no longer needed as we've protocols and long term memory usage through repetition/rehearsal to use without needing to 'think' about it.

And that's really all there is to it.
