Re: Come on In If You're Online And Say Anything: Part III

Last day of school here, the mommy and I are going to attend a special lunch
at school in the autism classroom. The students will help prepare the meal.

The classroom was moved to a new room, updated with kitchen equipment,
before school started last year and I haven't had a chance to see it yet. When
we attended the IEP meeting in November, we met in a conference room.

Re: Come on In If You're Online And Say Anything: Part III

There was Jean Patchett, Evelyn Tripp, Jean Shrimpton, Suzy Parker, Lisa Fonssagrives, Sunny Harnett, and Dorian Leigh.

And then there was Dovima as photographed by Richard Avedon.

Nearly 70 years later, and there has been no challenger to the throne.

Perhaps because the style is one past, and none seek to reclaim it.

No matter, for it shall never be...Dovima + Avedon + Dior are evergreen.

Springtime in Paris, 1951...the war was over, and the zeitgeist was the ephemeral, the feminine, beauty manifest, a beauty out of place and time,
a beauty to inspire, perchance to dream of something the war could not sully.

---

Am I obsessed? Perhaps...but the nexus point of a time and place, perception, genetics, lighting, lens glass, the archetype of a feminine fashion ideal,
a free market, self-definition, biometrics, dynamic range, the creation myth...it is all these things, and more besides, and sometimes my brain burns
in the greatest of conflagrations and I can’t put an end to it.

we attended the IEP meeting in November, we met in a conference room.
Update: lunch was delicious, prepared by the students with some supervision!

I liked the new teacher, she had quite an uphill battle with Nove who lost her
anchor when her teacher for the last 3 years suddenly had to quit at Christmas.
Nove has had more loss in the last 6 years than many people have by the time
they're 50.

The teacher gave out awards to each student, from learning all 10 basic cooking
skills to putting together an awesome display to making the most improvement.

My granddaughter got 3 awards, including one for being empathetic. Aww.

I know she's empathetic here at home, but didn't know how far that empathy
extended in other settings. One day the teacher was trying to explain a concept
to a student who just wasn't getting it, both teacher and student were getting
frustrated.

Nove went to the teacher and quietly said, "Mrs. T, I don't want to hurt your
feelings but I could please talk to Mary (not her real name) because I think I
can explain it so she'll understand." So she explained, and Mary did understand
at last. Not only did Nove want to help the other student, she didn't want to
hurt her teacher's feelings. Aww.

So there all you parents who brag because your kid made honor roll.

Re: Come on In If You're Online And Say Anything: Part III

Okay, Direct TV had another Free Preview of, (wait for it) DOG TV

That's right dog fans, from 5/24-5/28, our 8 y.o. Chiweenie "Chloe Bean,"

didn't watch pictures of the Forbidden City, tulips, or other dogs taking walks.

More importantly, she wanted nothing to do with Dog TV's "new" feature of

showing computer generated images of "large squiggly lines," and flying

worm looking thingies, complete with annoying monotone noises, that my

wife compared to Teletubbies

What is the world coming to

U R Welcome

Hey Robert!

None of my dogs have ever watched tv (10 of them so far).

I did have a cat once that watched tv. I don't remember which shows.

Probably the cat that loved popcorn. He really did.

But . . . Daisy the Dove does enjoy watching tv with me.

Haven't found any bird shows for her to watch though.

Re: Come on In If You're Online And Say Anything: Part III

we fostered (then kept) a country boy beagle named rosco recently. he was a stray in Alabama and they brought him up to Cleveland because we tend to have a lot of dog placement/humane shelter resources in Cleveland

first time we put on the TV he was barking at the people on it like a wild maniac. then came maybe the thing that made me laugh as hard as I ever have. Every car commercial that has cars driving down a street, he'd jump out of the way as the car appeared bigger and bigger on the screen

This phase lasted a while until he got used to TVs

buy boy was it entertaining

Re: Come on In If You're Online And Say Anything: Part III

dave & Lunacie,

Both excellent stories. Only our late wheaton (almost white) Scottie "Duffie,"

ever noticed a dog on tv, and that was while Westminster was on. I would

never pay for Dog TV, but it is (momentarily) interesting, just to see some of

the content. I mean what dog can resist pagoda pictures? Go figure

tc

Robert

A new vape shop opened in my town
Trying a new slim e-cig today, just snap in the cartridge, nothing to fill
I first talked to a friend of the guy working there ( thought she did, also)
She asked me where i was from, in the states i said minnesota, she said "OMG! You betcha!"
She had lived in St Paul for 10 years, taught in the french language immersion school
