Those Happily on Ritalin

Who's happily medicated on Ritalin? How long have you been consistently using and how does your dosing regime look? Additionally, what effects do you note, positive or negative after time? I'm mildly curious..

Re: Those Happily on Ritalin

30-50 mg daily for 10 years now. Always kept it neat and tidy with Ritalin. It's basically in the background now. I don't even think about it but hardly dependent. I can quit cold turkey and not experience any rebound depression, and my crashing is helped by diet and exercise. I typically used to crash around 5pm, but with 40-50mg daily that can be anywhere between 10PM and 1PM. I'm happy with that and with what Ritalin provides me with; a tool to work with myself.

Downsides: slight anxiety that I've actually extinguished consciously by becoming calmer, some lack of sleep in the first few years, loss of appetite.o

If you're feeling overly curious perhaps you should try it.

Hey thanks.

Do you find it has any effect on your mood at this point? Also, are you taking any other medications in conjunction?

Thank you again!

Re: Those Happily on Ritalin

So I tried it out and found I became somewhat sad/melancholy, but could certainly think and was more peaceful/less hostile feeling (I typically deal with heavy outbursts of anger/rage). I do notice memory loss when the meds wear off though and almost as if I need to be even MORE careful with my diet than pre-medication, as in eat more frequently in order to have acceptable mental function. VERY odd. I deal with major depression as it is, and half the time on it so far I've been anywhere from on the verge of tears to hollow to feeling alright. No anxiety though. The verdict is still out--I'm doing my best to avoid taking anti depressants or anything else, as I've come to know my baseline depression.

Re: Those Happily on Ritalin

10 mg Ritalin retard (adult) for about 10 years now once in the mornging. I take it on working days and don`t take it when I am doing sports and have time off and no strict schedule. I am happy with this, can go on and off Ritalin without problems, no other medication that I am taking.

Re: Those Happily on Ritalin

I take 50 IR, it works wonders!
few side effects, i have a slight loss of appetite and must eat at certain times (20-30 mn after taking meds)
also there is a kind of a crash/fade when the second dose wears off, i need a bit of caffeine and light snack around 7 pm. no anxiety but suddenly "back to my unmedicated ways".

chelona - you mean the ritalin that's not instant release...?

Re: Those Happily on Ritalin

Yes,1 Dosis Ritalin Adult lasts for about 7 hours (for me, when I eat properly),it is a slow-release version of Ritalin.
