Any recommendations for Adult ADHD Analysis in Northern VA?

I have reached out to a therapist who used to be a teacher but she tells me she doesn't give the test. She referred me to a psychiatrist who never returned me three attempts to reach her (website form, email, phone call). I reached out to a Doctor who wrote a good article and stressed that you need to get tested by someone who actually specialized in diagnosing ADHD. I haven't heard back from him either. I reached out to my Employee Assistance Program and they told me they can't make any recommendations for testing. I reached out to my Insurance Company and they said they can't recommend anyone either and just referred me to a list of providers. I don't want to just find someone from a list of providers because when I've looked online, there seems to be people who are marriage therapists also saying they are ADHD specialists. Does anyone have any recommendations for a Northern Virginia based psychiatrist who can test me and treat me if I do have ADHD? TIA

Hi Teddy, Can't help w/ a recommendation for you. I always like to start w/ recommendations from a respected friend/associate too. Do you have a PCP/Specialist that you have a good relationship with. If not, a minister, priest, or Rabbi whose opinion you trust/respect? If still no one, a trusted/respected friend that is/has worked in the medical field locally. (They normally have knowledge of the local Doc's, may have first-hand experience, or know who they would talk to to get a recommendation.) GL, -LN
