What field do you work in?

I work in emergency medicine/EMS and I was having a conversation with a partner, when he brought up that he thought a higher percentage of people in EMS/Emergency services and other similar fields have ADHD than others, because they have a natural draw/talent for it. So now, I'm curious, what fields do y'all work in and do you think there's any correlation between ADHD and your career choice at all?

Re: What field do you work in?

I'm a translator now; I'm not sure about the field, but freelance definitely suits me.

I used to work as an "executive assistant" and I was good at some things, but the details and routine tasks nearly did me in.

I'm in computer science. Mostly do research. It's a terrible fit if you have ADHD and are also not the brightest tool in the drawer.

Re: What field do you work in?

I work as a Digital Product Owner for a large bank. Have been in banking most of my career...some position or other. Started off as a teller in the early 90's. I don't know how I managed to crawl up the corporate ladder and I can't say my current role suits my ADHD but I've never found much in life that I have been interested in or can hyperfocus on, outside of intrusive ruminating thoughts...chew that cud, Andi!! Yet, it's a career and I get some bang for my buck knowing that my actions help our customers service their financial needs... (end corporate ramble)

Emergency Services is the closest one from the list, without clicking other

Recently unemployed, shame that wasn't listed. It might be interesting to see how many of us are out of work.

Re: What field do you work in?

Didn't realize it was multiple choice
put in education, but also am a musician so I guess also arts

Looks like a variety of different things so far though

EDIT: thinking of other people I know with ADHD...
brother = uuuhh IT I guess...
other brother = Military
Boyfriend = Medicine/Healthcare
Good friend = Social Services (therapist)
Work Colleague = Education (behavior specialist)
Old Roommate = Education (teacher, he's done a lot of things though)
Former Colleague/Good Friend = Mommy + Musician
Clarinetter Friend = Law
Former Boss = Education

...I guess I know a lot of teachers and musicians though...

Actually, the thing I see in common with these folks is they have a lot of different interests and choosing a career to focus on wasn't easy, and also maintaining focus on said career can be difficult at times as well.
