Testing Meds-please advise

I am currently trying to find a med that works for me. I've tried a few antidepressants but they all had sexual side effects. I tried Adderall that my brother's girlfriend gave me. It had an amazing effect, I can't remember the last time I thought so clearly. I asked my doctor (MD) to prescribe me a stimulant, but it seems as if I asked for it in a way that probably made it seem that I want to abuse it. When I last asked for a stimulant she didn't call back. I then asked for Straterra and I am on my third day. My situation is that I have no insurance and I can't afford to see another doctor. Should I continue with the Straterra even though the Adderall gave me the effect that I was hoping for? Should I tell my doctor that I tried Adderall? Should I wait and get a different doctor?

Hmmmm......

You say she's giving you Straterra just by asking for it and not Adderall ? Have you been tested for ADD ? or are you saying you haven't?

Not sure if doctors give out ADD meds. without something showing you've been tested and are ADD.......

Hope someone else has an answer....... sorry

I have been corresponding with a relative that is a phychiatrist. He is not treating or diagnosing me but he did tell me what he usually does for his patients re: meds.

Regardin Adderall he says "Adderall ( 10 mg., the slow release amphetamine, the generic form is completely comparable to the expensive brand and I've checked it out with pharmacology)"

Testing meds

My doctor did give me an Add screening questionnaire to fill out and I scored very high as far as it indicated that I have Add. I also did a lot of research and took extensive screens that also indicate the very strong possibility that I have Add. I gave these to my doctor at the very beginning. I guess I treated her as a psychiatrist because she is my only hope for treatment at the present time.
