Creating an ADD home

Well after a few weeks of consideration, research, and all that at lest 3 of the 4 people in my family have ADD. The one that doesn't is only 6 months old so who knows about him

With this in mind I am going to try to make my whole house ADD friendly. So I am wondering how all you that have been aware this stuff longer than me have dealt with this. I would like to hear what kinds of things you all have put into place to make life run a little easier.

I hear color cordinating lists helps a lot....

I've never been focused enough to try it myself though! HA!

I'm the only ADDer in my house...... With 2 kids and a husband who doesn't care life can be hard for me not them me !

I have a launching pad area which helps with the "Mom where's my"...Because I never know where anything is and that's not just an ADD Mom thing...

Right by the computer and the phone for all to see I have a Lg. dry eraser Calender. If someone wants me to rememeber something it goes there.

I talked to you about what I'm now doing with the laundry that's working well for me......

Every little bit that helps me feel my house is more picked up and organized the better I feel. It might sound wrong but I have a bit of perfectionism in me that if I can't do it all why bother doing anything...... I have trouble with breaking things down or doing just what needs to be done at the moment.

My next thing I'm looking for a good hint that'll work for me is keeping everyone's bedroom picked up, specially mine . Because My room is the biggest of all the bedrooms everything that doesn't have a home goes in my room. I started " fixing" my closet/bedroom (I have a Lg. attic I wasn't using right) I bought free standing Lg. plastic shelves and plastic storage containers. Organized Christmas decorations and stuff..

I also love cooking meals ahead and freezing them for the week. But this one is harder you have to take one day and make the meals. Well, you know how that goes .....

I also love BJ's ( Cosco, Sam's club) Buying some thing this way is good for me because I don't run out and then forget to get it to buy it, like laundry soap !!!......

I know it's weird but because it's bulk stuff I have to organizing it all to put it away and it stays that way I enjoy doing it...

I just got a shoe cabinet from IKEA, it's in the entryway. It's great because we don't have to search the house for shoes (as much) and they don't pile up on the floor by the front door (as much) :-).

Inside the coat closet we have plastic drawer units (love them) instead of a pile of miscellaneous stuff strewn all over the floor of the closet.

There are lot of good ideas in the book ADD Friendly Ways To Organize Your Life, if you don't have it yet, get it!!!

Hi SWMH,

I love working on challenges like this (especially other peoples!).

So that I/we come up with a good tip, you have to define what is in "the mess" is it mostly paper? clothes? or something else?
What are they putting in your room?
Also, how old are your kids and how many?

My brain cells are all fired up and ready!

I have a large box beside my desk labelled "Somewhere Safe". I haven't lost my keys, watch, daytimer, multitool, fidget ring, or almost anything else important since I put it there....
