Is it ok to thank someone in a closed thread?

I haven't been a member of a forum that used this thanks system before, and I was reading a thread that appears to have been locked. I was going to thank someone for their post, but then realized I do not know if that is:

a. possible or
b. appropriate to the cultural conventions of this forum.

What are your thoughts, or is it not technically possible to click on the thanks button in a locked thread anyway?

Re: Is it ok to thank someone in a closed thread?

I've thanked people in locked posts before. I don't think there's really any rules regarding thanks that aren't coded directly into the forum software.

Yes.

Rep them as well.

Some of the best posts are in closed threads

Re: Is it ok to thank someone in a closed thread?

Both possible and appropriate. A closed thread doesn't necessarily mean every post in there is bad.
