Any gamers out there?

Hi all, thought I'd start a thread on role playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons -- I know there's at least one other gamer on the forum!

I've played D&D off and on since the early 80's. I was playing regularly a few years ago, but lately have tapered off to the occasional game session... most of my gaming group has moved on to other locations and/or interests.

I find D&D to be a wonderful outlet -- for the duration of the game, I can step outside of myself and become who I want to be - strong, courageous, adventurous, heroic, mischievous, etc. I work with others towards a common goal in these games rather than competing with them.

My all-time favorite character is a female halfling thief/wannabe bard - mischievous to a fault, nimble fingers (especially where gems are concerned!), and fiercely loyal to her friends.

I'd love to hear from other gamers, or anyone curious about role-playing games... what games you like, what kind of characters you play, etc.

I played Everquest for a couple years. I play Acheron's Call 2 Fallen Kingdoms now and am Beta testing Star Wars Galaxies. RPG 's let me use my imagination and creativity. I can organize and direct groups to complete a quest . I am repected in the game. In the real world folks just think of me as an air head.

Smile Me me!

I have been gaming since 1986 and I had only one two-year hiatus about 4 years ago that I didn't game. I play in three games that alternate on Fridays: Two are ADD Forgotten Relms, one is DC Heros. I also run a game in a world in Forgotten Relms but based on an on going book that my mind has been writing since I was 18.

My favorite character? Oh all time it was a Gama World character (a futuristic game where just about everyone and everything was mutated) I played a humanoid cat, named Herefluffy. By the time I was done with that character I had a unicorn horn growing out of my forehead, I had bat wings, and I ate by absorbing sunlight. Oh my gosh what a silly game!

I am currently playing a Cleric of Lanthander who starts off each morning doing a morning greeting in the bare flesh. I had a huge attendence during this ceremony for some reason... I have a heart of gold and have this belief that all has some good in it. So far I've encouraged this good on a orc that is traveling with us. He hasn't missed a ceremony yet.

I play a cleric/mage of Mystra in another campaine: She has passed all her tests and thinks she is the best cleric ever, unfortunately its in her head and the other clerics sent her on a trip to Elminster to help with her final lesson: Humility. Imagine her surprise when she is forced to work with a slumy dwarf in a patrol. A lousy patrol! How dare they!

In my DC Heros game I play a japanese American who is a surveyor and had an accident with lightning that made her able to absorb electricity, throw electricity, put a a force shield and lets her fly not only over land but in space too. She needs only the sun to survive. ...

Hope that wasn't too much, But you know ADD, just can't stop the talking!

Since Quake 1, now I play Unreal Tournament 2003, Quake 3, Soldier of fortune 2, Counter- Strike,
I am very good at the mindless shooting games but cant seem to stay with the rpg's like everquest and anarchy online...

I do play video and pc rpg's, typically hyperfocussing on one particular game at a time. They're a wonderful outlet at times. But I'm more interested in talking about the pen-and-paper style games -- and the role-playing that goes along with it.

My current D&D game is small -- one DM and two players, but we're each playing two characters; we each have one dwarf character and one elf character. If you know anything about the classic friction between elves and dwarves, you can imagine the role playing possibilities! We're playing an old-fashioned dungeon-crawl style module: beat up the bad guys and take the treasure. It's refreshing for a change -- most modules nowadays are so full of politics and plot twists that they can be tiring.

I've played a lot of games. I enjoyed Age of Empires online the most. Unfortunately, I play too much. For my own benefit I have to ask my wife to hide the games from time to time. Since I started taking meds for ADD I find I don't need the stimulation I get from games as much. My theory is that video games or online gaming is very attractive to people with ADD. Does that ring true for you others?

I've never really played multiple player games, and I don't dare play anything online until I get more of a life offline, but I really love the RPGs from Spiderweb Software.

Well, I'm not really an RPG person, although I like some PC strategy games, like the ones where you get to run a business. My collection consists of Rollar Coaster Tycoon 2, Zoo Tycoon, Business Tycoon, Mall Tycoon, among others.

I tried to play Sim City 3000.

I can't get by 50 years without losing.
Sometimes these games get too bogged down with reality.. I mean zoning?? Sim City was more fun when it first started.

I'm curious, are there no more roleplayers out there?

Major RPG'er here...Gotta love Final Fantasy all of them..lmbo
I also get a kick out of runescape @ www.runescape.com

I play to relax and let reality go by the way side for awhile. My life is very hetic and I have a ton of responsibility, so escape is nice now and again. One thing for sure...I will go a few weeks of playing my heart out..then leave it alone for months on end b4 picking it back up. I have played numerous games...but mostly RPG's
