Active/Inactive Ingredients

I first stumbled on this web site when I was looking for some information about all the different brands of the same medication. Plus I just read a post that reminded me of what I was initially looking for. One thing I want to know is what is the point of having different brands if they are all the same thing? Also why not price them all the same?

O.K. so here's the deal: several days ago I went to a pharmacy, rather than the department store pharmacy, and told them I would like the generic Ritalin(no perscription insurance). So I paid for it, was suprised it was less than half the price I usually pay. Got home check it out to discover it is Methylin. I called the pharmacist to check it out. She told me it was a brand name but they use it as generic.

Does anyone know if they use different ingredients in any of the various types of meds? I also ran into something about chewable Methylin. For one to me it's seems weird that there would be a chewable kind and it contains Aspartame. Aspartame is nasty in my opinion, I've got some kind of allergy to it. Most perservatives effect me some what.

Does anyone have personal experience with Methylin or even Methlyphenidate? Also does anyone know why you are supposed to wait atleast 30 minutes to eat?

Talking You came to the right place...

I think you'll find the earlier thread "Poll: Brand Ritalin vs. Generic" most enlightening.

BTW, I don't have RX insurance either. But one day I stumbled on this:

(URL removed)

I literally couldn't believe what I saved with this crummy, phony-looking, FREE card (esp. on generics)!

(I'm sure there's a catch somewhere, but I haven't figured it out yet...)

Cheers,

K

I have read the thread you were talking about. In fact that is what reminded me to write this question. Also I read you reply and checked out that web site.
