Smile New Here

I have not been diagnosed with ADD, but I'm 99% sure that its my problem. For years I've called myself a procrastinator, but after reading Messie No More, I had a sort of revelation. The author reviews different reasons why someone may not have an organized home and I completely identified with the section on ADHD. None of the other reasons seemed to fit me.

I know I need to get up and do things, but even when I'm not feeling overwhelmed, I feel...stuck somehow...like something is physically barring me from what I need to do. Even if I do get something done, its never completely finished. I may go "clean" the kitchen, but I always leave a few dishes in the sink, or the counters, floors and stove unwiped.

I read the post about beauty habits, too, and OH, that is so me. I would love to be "high maintenance" but I don't think I could if I tried! I buy the clothes and shoes, but hardly ever wear them because I think it requires my doing my hair, makeup, etc...

I can visualize the person I could - and should - be, but it seems so unattainable. I know I need to make lists and stick with them - after reading that above mentioned book, I actually did really well for a about a week or two, but then got out of it. I've tried Flylady countless times, but forget it - its too much for me, no matter how many times I make/update my Control Journal.

I'm taking my 4-year-old in for a doctor's appointment and I'm going to ask his Pediatrician about resources in this area, but I know appointments are limited here. But I also know myself and how important a support group is to me, which is why I've already logged in here.

Thanks for reading!
Jennie
btw - I'm an army wife stationed overseas with two boys (4 & 2)

Hi Jennie and welcome! I'm new around here, too. Your mention of FlyLady caught my eye. I'm a FlyLady drop out, too. I just never could get it together and I got so mad at the whole thing! I just wanted to tell her "Admit you're ADD and forget this whole SHE thing!" Anyway, it's good to have you here. I hope you find this place as helpful as I have already!
