men and women
It seems like (atleast on this board) that the men have had better results with Strattera than the women. Or maybe some are just more vocal about their results than others.

Okay well I am a female...and I really wanted this to work and it did...as far as better focussing goes...BUT the side effects...made it impossible to continue....I took it with my 400 mg of Wellbutrin by the way...okay my side effects were: cramps which felt like urinary tract infections (and they were not in fact UTI's), increased sex drive that was too uncomfortable for me, strange mouth sensations, sleepiness during day, awake during night, occasional nausea. One other but I forget....(maybe increased memory loss
???)

Overall, have had great success with Strattera. When I first talked to some docs about the med, they indicated that the compound was very similar to wellbutrin. So perhaps the combination of the 2 was a bit much for your body to handle?

Oh really? But the side effects (of Strattera) were SOOOOOO different from Wellbutrin....I mean the ONLY side effect I EVER had from Wellbutrin was decreased appetite...at first...and I didn't even have that with Strattera....
Hmmmmmm.....I'll tell you Andrew..... and once I came off the STrattera, it took my body several days to feel normal again....it was STRONG stuff for me...

P.S. I am really glad it worked for you....I mean you're job hunting and all...that's great....I'm glad you're in a position to be hunting for the right job, and not the right med.....incidentally, I'm totally, 100% NOT going to discloses to my new employer, when I find "it", that I'm ADD....thanks to the very good discussions here at forums....

My sleep problems disappeared after I dropped Wellbutrin while taking Strattera.

My observation has been that if you are ADD and your life is "functional" already when you take Straterra, the impairments tend to be rather unobjectionable and the benefits welcomed.
If you life is not in a workable balance, the side effects are intollerable, and impair getting out of the current situation, and therefore prevent progress as much as they prevent ADD disruption of a current status quo. |

I have been on strattera now for about 6 weeks.
It has been a ride! I have had mood swings that were nearly uncontrollable. When I hit 100 mg/day I found that I had plenty of desire but absolute inability, and I quickly dropped back to 75 mg/day. The problem has been that the inability has plagued me ever since to one degree or another. I cut back to 50mg but no luck. I am now at 25mg and will try this for a good stretch but if I don't get any relief from this particular side-effect I will drop back into the dreaded night and fog, (and I really mean dreaded) of unmedicated ADHD. I am kind of at wits end. My blood pressure is up, libido is good but no way to connect. My foggyness is returning and I'm scared alot of the time. I do have thoughts of death and darkness more than normal. I hate the thought of going backwards but if 25mg won't work then strattera was an overall failure. But at 100mg I was blissfully clearheaded for the first time in my life and that was great. But I can't take the side-effects. |

Strattera was dangerous to me.
I had to stop. Dark thoughts, dangerous acts... perseveration ... there was the up side that while i was feeling i was completely impaired, those around me thought i was "easy to be around." I didn't feel i was engaged. That was the foundation for the dark thoughts. Good luck. |

men and women with add
I decided on the spur of the moment to stop strattera sooner than I had previously planned.
I am alternating between jubilant and dealing with increasing symptoms of untreated add. but. It is so good to be relitivly free of strattera. I'll see how tonight goes. No nightmares I can remember from last night. Emotions are up and down but hey, I can deal with that because I'm DONE with it.!!!! So. I wonder how long I go before I try something else? I am considering Concerta because caffine gives some relief. Thank you all for your support! It's so good to know I'm not alone. ![]() |
