Question lost 10 pounds since started adderal... this normal?

Since i have started adderal I have lost 10 pounds, But i have only been on it for about a month. i weighed 190 when i first went and two weeks later i weighed 180. Some people have said that i probably did it different times of the day and so it was all messed up but i weight myself after i woke up and went to the bath room. i havn't done much excercising. i try to swim once or twice a week but during those two weeks i know i didn't do a thing. I was just wondering if this was normal for anyone else.

another thing i thought abotu was my blood pressure. i was in a health class yesterday and they asked us to find our pulse. the teacher then counted to 6 and had us count our resting heart beat. she asked the class and everyone said around 6, but mine was 14. i wasn't sure what the matter was but i didn't say anything about it. after that we ran for abotu 30 seconds and then we were asked again to count our heart beats in 6 seconds. the class all said 14-15 and i had 26. i eat healthy and i try to work out a couple times a week. i heard adderal makes a different with the blood pressure but i didn't know it was that big of a difference. has anyone else noticed this? i thought it was kinda intersting/scary that a drug could make such a change.

It is normal, yes, but that is an aweful lot of weight to lose in a short amount of time. I would bring it up with your doctor. Racing heart and weight loss are common side effects of stimulants, but that doesn't mean they are acceptable. Talk to your doctor.

10lbs is a fair bit, but on a 190lb guy it's not really that much. Depending on how much water I drink and how much salt I've had the day before, I can drop 10lbs in a couple of days. Are you drinking enough water? Stimulants do tend to dehydrate you a bit. Stimulants will also diminish hunger, so you may be eating less?
You will find that your BP and heart rate will be higher, but this effect does tend to diminish with time in most people. Drinking lots of water will help with this too, if you are dehydrated. I would imagine that your doctor has been checking your blood pressure on a regular basis and he/she might also have given you an ECG before you got the scrip for Adderall. As long as you are healthy, a small rise in BP and HR shouldn't do any damage, especially if it's in the short term. I know my BP dropped when I started taking a stimulant, but that's because I also started excersizing and losing weight.
It's a good idea to bring these concerns up with your doctor.

i've talked to my doctor about it. i told her what i have been doing, which is nothing our of the ordinary. the only thing that was different in my day was that i was drinking 4-5 20 onces of water a day. taking the drug did decrease my appitite but i still ate something even if i wasn't hungry. it was almost as if i was forcing my self to eat. when i did this it was nothing big. for the most part it was a nurti grain bar or something simialar. From what i saw it was just a fast drop of weight and i didn't know if it were normal. but like i said i have been drinking alot of water. more then i ever have. along with water i always have a pack of gum with me or some mints. it helps the dehydration.

I have been taking Adderall XR for the past month and my dosage has increased from 5mg per day to 30 mg, as of yesterday. I have noticed a drop of about 8 lbs. since I began the script.

At 6'1", I usually fluctuate between 183 lbs and 193 depending upon how much I work out. Right now I am at 183 and I attribute the loss to my decreased appetite and missed workout sessions. There have been days after I upped my script that I didn't feel much like lifting.

As my appetite has come back slightly as well as my desire to workout I know the weight will come back although, I think because the medication is a stimulant I will continue to burn more calories than before.

Yay, I lost a lot of weight too, I don't know how much but it worried me and my husband, then somehow I adjusted to it and I was able to eat normally again. Also I think when you first start taking it, it's dehydrates you so it's a lot of water weight. I wouldn't be too worried about it, you should adjust to after a while and as long as weight loss doesn't continue to be persistant problem I would say it's normal! Good Luck!

yeah i am now realizing eating is something i need to do more of. during the day i will get really bad stomach cramps and then headaches will start. i normally would eat some pop tarts fro breakfast and just have a bottle of water for lunch. that was for the first few weeks but after my body got used to the meds i found my self eating more. it kinda stinks, i was kinda happy about losing the weight. not to big of a problem though. just the stomach aches start to get real bad. sometimes to the point where i bend over it hurts to much. i don't think thats a good thing.

Pop tarts for breakfast and a bottle of water for lunch? Sounds fun but you are asking for disaster (i.e. stomach craps and searing headaches) Even if you have no appetite I would stock your fridge with protien shakes, even slimfast is fine, and a few zone bars as well. You can get through the day with those and at least intake some nutrients. Apparently those with add should maintain their nutrition even better than others by staying away from excessive cards, fats and sugars. Adderrall is great but you have to also help your body out.
