I am curious, I thought that Ritalin being used by a non adder was dangerous, yet someone told me that "Ritalin has exactly the same effect on anyone who takes it, "ADD" or not. It is a stimulant, pharmacologically similar to cocaine."
I am confused, how can it have the same effect, when an adder uses it to improve his/her ADD symptoms that a non adder doesn't have?

It may be dangerous for a number of different reasons. Most likely if a person with out AD/HD is using ritalin or another stimulant he or she is not under the care of Dr.
It can be dangerous if a person is taking a lot of it or has some sort of reaction to it. Also many people who abuse ritalin are now snorting it like cocaine which it wasn't meant to be taken like that. Stimulants do have a similar effect on all people but not the same on each person. They do improve attention in people with and with out AD/HD too. The US milatary even gave stimulant medication to (non-ADD) fighter pilots during the Gulf War to keep them more alert. |
