Smile Can't take the usual meds any suggestions?

Any one out there with suggestions on any alternitive treatments. The useual meds are not tolerated by my self. Ritalin Adderal make me feel too "strung out" and the antidepressants ( straterra welbutren zoloft) make me very aggitated and the sexual side effects are untollerable. Caffine helps but too short lived. Any Ideas out there to help symptoms but not turn me into zombie or a angry ball of nerves. My wife and myself would be grateful.
Thank you K.B

If caffeine helps, you may consider taking a sustained-release or long-acting version of a stimulant at a low dose...that way, it won't be quite as much, as quickly, as a fast acting version. Perhaps Metadate CD or Concerta...

Pemoline (Cylert) might be worth a try. It's a stimulant, but it's not stimulating, appearently, so you might not feel as "wired". There are issues with your liver when taking Pemoline - you'll need to get regular blood tests to make sure nothing bad is happening to it (the risk is low, but it's still a risk, so premoline is not often a first choice for treating ADHD).

Like Gregster said, Pemoline has a high risk of hepatic failure, which is why it's not used as a front line... I don't know about it being non-stimulating though...the Army uses Pemoline to reduce the symptoms of fatigue during extended operations, so it must have at least some stimulating properties...

I don't know if I would qualify the risk as "high". It's certainly higher than other meds, but any drug with an actually high risk of liver damage would not pass FDA approval.
But I made a mistake with regards to the "not stimulating" comment - I was thinking of the drug "Provigil" (modafinil). It's used for ADHD "off-label" and is not stimulating in the traditional way, although it's used to help people stay awake.
It's the drug I meant to recommend, although pemoline is also worth trying.
