Motivation Problems

Does anyone else experience problems with knowing you need to do something, and maybe even having the time, but not being able to actually get yourself UP to do it?

I'm making myself a 'costume' and I'm SO close to being done with the shirt, it's all done except for the hem and sewing on two straps... and I pinned the hem up today... but I just can't force myself to get up and get the sewing machine out, and setting up the iron... etc, and so forth. I keep saying "at the next commercial" or "when this documentary is over" ...

I'm annoying me today.

Re: Motivation Problems

Yes, all the time, all day long, with everything. I'm doing it right now and I'm so annoyed with myself as well.

It drives me absolutely crazy but I just can't do anything at all unless I know that there is an immediate consequence. If it wasn't for strict deadlines, I'd never have completed anything and with deadlines I struggle.

I keep telling myself the same thing and it's only now that I'm realising that I really can't believe myself. When I say that I'm going to do something, it means absolutely nothing. I guess, future Fuzzy is even less motivated to do anything than current Fuzzy.

The only way I can get anything done at all is to do it right now and to use the urgency and anxiety of the moment. It doesn't happen too often though. Also, there is a fine line between stress causing enough motivation and being just too overwhelmed to do anything at all.

That's the problem- I don't want to freak myself out by squealing at myself "GET IT DONE NOOOOOOWWWWW" because I'll be a nervous spaz and screw it up... and since I don't have the money (or time) to get more material...

Well, you get the idea.

I had no idea coming to terms with myself would be this awful. I am really annoying sometimes. I can't motivate myself, no wonder DH gets so annoyed.

I think I need a puppy or something to get me at least MOVING. My two dogs are lazier than I am... no reason to get up if they are napping.

Re: Motivation Problems

I know what you mean. I have a lot of time on my hands - especially on weeks I work from home. My apartment should be immaculate. I should have lots of projects done. but most things get put off and put off.
I'm trying to see the "big picture" but its hard. There are times when I think, ok if I just thought this through - what should I be doing now, so that I'm where I want to be in X months, years, etc. but that really doesn't happen much.

I try that too... but it never seems to happen.
