Do spaceships exsist ??

Do spaceships exsist ?? My friends father who got his automotive and aircraft mechanical training in the airforce was going to work one day when he turned the corner in Primrose Ontario to see to his surprise something sitting 100 feet in the air hovering ther over a farmers field. There was an Ontario Provincal Police officer there and a farmer just staring at this thing. It hovered there for about 5 minuets and then took off from a dead stand still to being out of sight within 30 seconds.

It was 5 years befour Mr Bader (my friends Dad) would even talk about it.

The story I just wrote is all he told us other than at the end he stated
" I have been around all types of aircraft all my life and I have never seen anything that looked like that or could move like that."

He then said "was it a spaceship ?", " I have no proof it was a spaceship", " "BUT IF YOU TRUST THE FACT THAT " "I have been around all types of aircraft all my life and I have never seen anything that looked like that or could move like that", YOU MAKE YOUR OWN DECISION AS TO WHAT I SAW"

and he never ever spoke of it again to me or his daughter (my friend Debbie)

I didn't realize this was the whacked-out weird theories board. I'm confining my posts to issues surrounding ADD from here on out. I'd say this type of post belongs more on the UFO boards than on ADD Forums. Just my $.02.

If I'm not mistaken this is the general chit chat forum and unless I'm mistaken if I feel like asking if people believe in spaceships that should be my prerogative . Maybe if a particular subject doesn't agree with your frame of mind when it is posted in the General Chit Chat area you should just refrain from participating instead of of demoralizing someone else who might just have felt like chit chatting about that particular subject. So just so you know I am returning your $.02 to you as I'd hate for you to think that some one took your money when your not happy with your purchase.

garry: theres a saying that goes if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it must be a duck. therefore if it looked like a spaceship and quacked (moved) like a spaceship (or in your case didnt look like anything ELSE youd ever seen and didnt move like anything else youd ever seen), then it must have been a spaceship. k? anythings possible in this crazy mixed up world of ours right? my vote is a simple yes.

You are correct Garry this is the Chit-Chat Forum where just about anything goes.

I think many people use the "view new topics" option when they come on an many times don't realize what section they are in.

There have been many threads in the "Chit-Chat" forum that have nothng to do with AD/HD.

If people are looking to read and talk only about AD/HD then the Chit-Chat may not be for them.

Also, please be considerate to each other. If you have an issue with a post or a member please report it to a moderator or admin.

You also have the option of putting members on ignore so you do not have to read their posts or communicate with them.

I had a wierd experience in my first year of college that somewhat conviced me. My friend and I were driving from north bay to south river...of on the horizon, we saw this silverish thing just floating in mid air, though, hey, its just an airplane...suddenly it was gone and then we saw it on the other side of the sky, as though it disappeared and then reappeared...must have travelled awful fast...neither of us said anything for a few minutes and then I finally though "screw it, I gotta ask if he thinks he saw I I think I just saw" and I did, I said simply "did you just see what I just saw" and my friend who was driving said "you mean the extremely fast silver thing in the distance..." and I said "uh, yeah, I guess so" and he said "yep....not sure what it was, but I dont really know what to think of it" not twenty minutes later we came upon about 4 or 5 cop cars parked alongside the road and they had dogs on leashes and looked like they were searching for something in the forest...not that those two events were connected, but it did seem rather odd at the time...Another time, I was out with a girlfriend and we had been at the park for a walk, when we got in my car to go home I looked up and there was this one star that seemed to be moving in a pattern in one spot as though it was hovering around something...I watched it for ages (I am sure if her parents had looked out the window, they would have thought I was a bit nutty...and I had to explain the next day why I did not move from in front of their house for a good twenty minutes after their daughter went inside the house...and they did think I wasa bit nutty! anyways, those are my two odd stories. Anyway, Gary, I hope more discussions like this come up as I find them interesting and thought provoking and to think that the current state of mankind is the highest level of evolution in the universe right now is probably the most ludicrous belief of all...and the most discouraging...I really hope that we are not finished the evolutionary process...as this planet could sue some new ideas...maybe ADD is an evolutionary step, maybe we, as ADDers in the future will be better adapted to situations that others cannot fathom.,....hmmmm......anyway,thats my two cents...and then some I think...reply if you think of anything to add...

If UFO's exist, then why do they only show themselves to rednecks, country folk, homeless people, and other "fringes" of society? If a race had the ability to create a starship of the type that could travel to earth, buzz a cornfield, and then beat a quick retreat to the far edges of the galaxy, don't you think they'd stop by the UN or the White House or the Taj Mahal and say hello?

I personally believe there's life "out there"... in other star systems or other galaxies... but I think a personal belief in UFO's being a real and pervasive phenomenon here on earth is a bit um... far-fetched. And those are my REAL $.02.

Maybe "UFOs" do not go to world leaders and waht not because, like many of us here on earth, they also have a great distrust for those with a lot of power (military or otherwise)...plus, it is often those people who see UFOs who become "fringe" people because they believe they have seen a UFO. If an alien has so much knowledge as to make such a craft, maybe they know something about the fringes of society that others do not...(basically, the mainstream). why is it so hard beleive that there are visitors, and that from time to time, they take people....or jsut visit for scenery....plenty of people believe in an all powerfull invisble source that made the earth and made us, as humans, the supreme rulers of all that exists on it alhtough we have never seen this being except in wierd places like paintings that cry and road signs and muffins bearing a striking resemblance to the face of a saint. I am not saying that there are or are not spaceships, but why beleive that those holding all the power hold it legitimately at all times and therefore should be the only ones to visit! I am not a redneck or backwoods hick either...

No, but in fact 99% of all UFO "sightings" have been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to be other things... weather, atmospheric occurrences, normal aircraft, balloons, etc. And the remaining 1% cannot be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. So don't you think that of ALL the "sightings" that have taken place, we'd see one instance that could be proven somewhere, that would prove this? Obviously, NASA and other organizations have an interest in finding life on other planets, or they wouldn't have SETI and other programs to discover life. But that doesn't mean they believe there IS life there, not yet.

And I stand correct on the "fringe" comment... it's not always people on the fringes who believe in these things. But it's the same group of people who think Coral Calcium can cure their cancer, who watch Jerry Springer every night, and who think the perfect home is one you can put wheels on. I would venture a guess that 90% of all UFO "abductees" have mullets, are missing some teeth, or have conspiracy theories and think wearing a tinfoil hat to keep out the government mind-control devices is a good idea

OK, 99% of all reported sightings have been reported as being proven to be other things....there are probably numerous more that have not been reported....and what we have seen is that which people want us to hear. Of course, people who have few teeth and drive motor homes are a great way to bring up skepticism in the general society....making someone's thoughts and ideas seem crazy and outlandish is the easiest way to make others believe that something isnt real. I am not saying I'm right about anything...I mean, half of the problem with having something like ADD is that, despite what medical professionals tell us, we know there are some limits to what people can tell you about how your mind works...however, if taking a pill three times a day makes you feel better about yourself and makes your life a little easier, then go for it...as soon as the pills bring more problems than solutions to your life, its time to seek out other options,....like a tinfoil hat...we all have thewse little things in our heads called brains, and they are so bombarded by facts and ideas and thoughts and whatnot, that at times it does become difficult to process all the junk that goes in there, sometimes, we need to feel that it is manageable. and if those on the fringe take comfort in wearing tinfoil or any other food preserving wrapping substance, I say kudos....they did it without drugs...And if we are going to spend millions of dollars a year on discovering life on other planets while life here for a lot of people really sucks ***, they had better believe full-throttle in life on other planets, otherwise that is a massive waste of tax dollars that could be used for good school programs, good parenting aids for kids with ADD or any other physical disabilities as well....it could be put towards something that is real...but it isnt...we invest money and time into things that we havent figured out yet because it provides some glimmer of hope to many...if it didnt, there would be no horrible TV evangelists peddling holy water or whatever....once again, this is just my opnion, but really, belief in alien spaceships is no different than belief that ADD is real....just because it says it in a book written by someone with DR. in front of their name, doesnt always make it so, but if people feel that they are different and it affects them (PS, I know ADD is real, because I have the same symptoms and problems in my life after being diagnosed as I did before I was diagnosed...there is something there, but whether or not it is a "disability" or disorer due to the fact that it doesnt fit with the mainstream of soceity is what should be questioned....maybe our brains are made slightly different for a very good reason, maybe our impulsiveness and constant questioning and inability to stay focused is a positive trait to some degree and at some point in the future may save our asses from something that normal people will not be able to handle...)...Anyway, you bring up some good points, but I am trying to be as open in my life as possible to the possibility that things that are fed to me through books and tv are not always what they seem...and thus, neither are all evaluations of those sources valid either...its a sick a ridiculous cycle, but I find it helps me out (I think it is spelled out pretty well in the quote after my name....).

So I guess the thoughts that I'm getting from this discussion is that,

" Is that I'm not the only one of us that doesn't think that ",

"WE ARE THE MOST INTELLIGENT SPECIS IN THE UNIVERSE"

well, that and I, among other grad students, have little else to do in their lives than post long-winded rants about absolutely really nothing at all to make themselves feel more important than they really are in order to justify the insane amounts of money the have spent ontheir education and in the pubs up to this point (I really think a good self-deprecating sense of humour is missing in academic circles if you havent already noticed...I would like to get an academic journal in each discipline devoted solely to satiring everything academics do within that discipline....this is especially needed, I find, in the social sciences and psychological areas...).
