Gets so ANGRY when cleaning!

When I have to clean around the house, especially if I have to clean up some mess before I can get the cleaning done, I can get so irritated, mad and angry! It's really out of proportion! When the job is done I get very embarrassed that I had that reaction...
I don't really know why it has this effect on me evry time...
I wonder if you recognice it?

Re: Gets so ANGRY when cleaning!

Yes.....I can. I waver between thinking of what horrible mean things I'm going to say to my husband about his habits, and throwing the dishes against the wall. It happens other times, too, and I can't predict. Sometimes it happens at work when I am overwhelmed.

Adderall has helped A LOT.

Re: Gets so ANGRY when cleaning!

Yeah im like that...it used to be reaally reaaaaallly bad when i was a bit younger, especially when my mum asked me to clean..and sometimes still.....i would vacuum and smash it into the walls angrily...lol but i dunno i took a chill pill since... cant give u advice...i think it just went away eventually when i realised that its not worth it...take a deep breathe, and remind urself that there is no point in getting angry when u just have to do it anyway..

Re: Gets so ANGRY when cleaning!

I have 3 young children and while they are usually very good about cleaning up messes when I ask, they do need a lot of prodding. And they are like little whirlwinds messing up a house in 5 minutes flat!! I find myself becoming incredibly annoyed, irritable, and screaming ALOT, which is why I sought help with a psychiatrist and psychologist (meds and therapy) I have a short fuse anyway, but seeing a mess in my house and having to clean it really, really sets me off. And I hate it.

My partner is the exact opposite of me. I'm somewhat of a control/clean freak (yo, what's up ADD? LOL!) and she is a laid back, whatever, throw it where it lands chill gal.

::sigh:::

Re: Gets so ANGRY when cleaning!

I get upset if I am feeling overwhelmed by a task I am doing. Cleaning especially- as I have a tendency to "move" my messes around... They tend to end up piled on the couch which I eventually have to clean off too... I don't know where all this crap comes from sometimes.

Re: Gets so ANGRY when cleaning!

I really dislike getting my hands dirty. I have these horrible visions of little green germ thingys crawling about my skin.

I hate touching dirty dishes and bin lids!

Cleaning sucks. I hate it. I get angry even though its only at myself.

Re: Gets so ANGRY when cleaning!

My husband thinks I get grumpy and start fights when cleaning coz I'm trying to get myself motivated.

I think he may be right. I used to start fights in the tutorials at uni coz it was the only way I could learn.

Sometimes I just need to rev myself up to get the job done.

Without meds I simply cannot handle the messes my 3 young boys constantly make. I used to yell at them....now I usually just walk away before yelling and come back and clean up the mess.

Re: Gets so ANGRY when cleaning!

It's all my own mess, so not really. I actually really enjoy doing things like scrubbing the tub, washing dishes, and cleaning the kitchen, but I hate doing things that involve sorting through my various piles.

LOL! Some times I even say that. "Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

Re: Gets so ANGRY when cleaning!

If people are around, I seem to get even worse. If I'm alone, I don't seem to get as angry, but I'm not all smiles and roses, by any stretch of the imagination.

Maybe it's my perception of them judging how I do it, or maybe it's more of a, "What are you looking at? Grab something and help, dammit." kind of thing.

It just always seems to me like people are in the way, even if they technically aren't doing anything obstructive. Just having them there feels like unwanted energy. On the flip side, I feel very uncomfortable being around people who are cleaning or doing other things I can't be much help with.

I have something in my brain that "bookmarks" whenever I've touched something that might be germy. I might not even remember what it was but I remember that I need to wash my hands at the earliest opportunity and definitely before I eat or touch my face or something.

I wash my hands a lot.
