Got diagnosed today

I went to my doctor today and got diagnosed with Adult ADD. He prescribed me Adderall, 15mg. He said sometimes one will be enough some days I'll have to take two. All I can say is this stuff is the most I've ever paid for a medication, way expensive. My insurance said I was told old for it to be covered. I got a bunch of information on ADHD and then got given a packet with papers that have to be filled out for my next visit. I'm so relieved to finally have a name for this thing that has caused such a huge struggle in my life. I know it's still going to be bumpy from here but I hope it's all down hill bumpy at least.

If you live in the US then I suggest you tell your pharmacist to f**k off, call the insurance company yourself and try a different pharmacy.

Heavens no, don't tell that to the pharmacist! These medications are hard to find in some places, and insurance companies don't want us to have them anyway. A good relationship with your pharmacist can help you get what you need in spite of that!

I was going to say, talk to your doctor and your pharmacist and work out what line of bull your insurance company needs to be fed to get them to cover it. By which I mean, sometimes they'll cover things after all if you jump through certain paperwork hoops, or do some other dance. Sometimes they need to see a different diagnostic code written on the paperwork before they'll pay out for a certain 'scrip; sometimes they want to see you having tried other (cheaper) meds and had them not work before you're given something else.

My partner was put on a pricey (non-ADHD) med which insurance didn't want to cover as they still considered it "experimental". Once we documented all the other crap that we'd tried and that hadn't worked, they were willing to cover it after all. So, there might be some way to get your Adderall covered once you figure out what the insurance company needs to hear.

I'm going to be looking into it and researching it. They said I'm too old I guess because only kids are allowed to have ADHD, psh that's bull. This medicine is working wonders on me though. I
