What kind of environment would you THRIVE in?

from an adhd standpoint, where do you think you could totally fit in and your adhd be your strength rather than downfall?

doesn't matter if it's outlandish or ridiculous, want to hear what you've got!

i'll come up with something here in a second....

Re: What kind of environment would you THRIVE in?

Constant, constant, constant stimulation.

But, on my terms. The wrong kind of stimulation stresses me out.

I'm not sure if a place or a situation like that exists. Probably it exists just in the world of my day dreams and maybe that is another reason why I spend so much time there.

Re: What kind of environment would you THRIVE in?

I did very well in college, once I got all my gen ed courses out of the way and could focus on my major. I need structure, but I also don't do well with rules and discipline. I have done nothing but fail since I left college.

I don't know exactly what it'd involve, but -- something involving constant travel.

I love it when I'm on the road; everything is always new and interesting.

Aside from some of its more obvious downsides, the military was a great career for me. As a rule, there's one most important thing to concentrate on at all times; you're constantly kept on your toes; there's a steady trickle of rewards for your accomplishments, large and small; the energy level is consistently high. If it wasn't for a few of the major downsides (some of which involve politics) I might still be there.

My sister has ADHD as well (though she doesn't believe it), and she thrives as an EMT, and other emergency first responder situations.

In a musical or artistic environment.
A place with a computer
Somewhere with non-judgemental,sensitive people.
With room for a sudden change of heart

I am a ..."salesclerk" of proffecion,
but it only works when on medicin.

I have also noticed that a lot of people with AD/HD have a good intuition and have gained much experience in many fields of life.
It fits very good into that kind of work.

Re: What kind of environment would you THRIVE in?

An environment that doesn't require so much damn structure for me to function somewhat productively, and one that is everchanging to be much more user-friendly based on my mood.

Re: What kind of environment would you THRIVE in?

My room... A place I tend not to stray from often..

I have everything so feng shui'd.. I also have just the right amount of things on and buzzing to keep me feeling alright..

But in the outside world- I'd agree with some of the previous posts.. I think a place with constant positive stimulation... Where time is not demanding.. Ultimately things that most people would like but are impossible..

Perhaps we should really be trying to answer the question of how we can manipulate our environments to make them work for us.. as hard as it is.. Since most of us are dreamers, and I am constantly in my own dreamland- it doesn't take much for me to really look at the world in a different way- one that is either positive or negative... It's balancing the two that is a task.. I find that my life really is just dandy as heck, but people tend to find things to complain about given anything.. at the end of the day I think it's how we analyze what happened, and how we conquered or failed that particular task.. Or well.. maybe find something that you can look forward to daily.. And live up to that moment.. I personally look forward to playing a little bit of Zelda every night, in my cozy room, with my light fixtures with fans on for my bonsai, and my teapot to drink some tea, as well as music in the background, or a movie playing, while playing a game that I have repeated a gaziilion times.. I require all that stimulation..

I think I didn't make sense.. But try hard to make the best of what you have, as that one moment for me is bliss atop the pile of heaping poop that I have to deal with on a daily basis, and the mass amounts of people that can't understand me or deal with my personality.. That i find rather charming and unique. People seem to get mad at me for being "up and about". Anyways, I rambled on.

A nice environment. With good stimulation, and no time constraint.. and sun.. but also some rain.. but no cold.. I don't like cold.

Re: What kind of environment would you THRIVE in?

I would need at least one person around me, but they could only talk at certain times. Having another person present in the room calms me down, but when they talk I get extremely distracted from my work.

I need structure, but not too many rules. I need deadlines and a million reminders.

I think that's why I'm thriving at college - structure, but not a lot of rules.
