How is your good (HDL) cholestrol compared to your bad(LDL)? I have very low cholestrol levels- bad and good (I am an actual vegetarian )

The ratio between the good and bad levels is as important as your overall number. Too low HDL is also very bad for your heart.

Beta blockers do take a bit of getting used to. The fatigue and cold is pretty normal and should subside. I was just wiped out when I first started them. I found that taking them at night before I went to bed helped make the side effects more tolerable - the fatigue wasn't bothersome then, and side effects had worn off by morning. I prefer time release beta blockers for this reason too - one pill per day, even amount of medication throughout.

The migraines are a bit odd though! Usually beta blockers will actually *treat* migraines, not cause them. I would suggest getting a blood pressure cuff at home (one that also takes your pulse) - record your pulse/bp a few times a day so you can get a more accurate reading and help your doctor out.

It isn't uncommon for bp/pulse to spike in the doctor's office, so you can end up with really inaccurate information unless you've been tracking those numbers day to day, in normal situations. Your dose may not be right for you - too low and it won't be doing enough to manage your symptoms, too high and you can end up with low BP and pulse which can leave you lethargic, fatigued, and depressed.

I went through a similar issue initially - if I hadn't been tracking my bp and pulse daily and writing it down, the doctor wouldnt have been able to see how low my bp was dropping, since it spiked in the office because of white coat anxiety. He just lowered my dose and all was well.

Sometimes you'll have to go through a few types of beta blockers before finding the right one as well - they aren't all created equal!
No No migraines were before the beta-blockers.

Re: I might have to give up on stimulants

I checked my BP & pulse several times daily with a digital blood pressure machine. I just checked it a few minutes ago.It read 112/73 pulse was 68. But I'm not feeling comfortable I feel Anixous & I'm having some chest tightness. I've taken 50mg Vyvanse ,1mg Ativan,10mg Nadolol, & 20mg Proilsec DR for GERD.So I need some advice ladies should I go to the hospital or tough this out.I'm mean I am 24 after all.

Re: I might have to give up on stimulants

Im not sure about other beta blockers but I was on 200mgs of lapressor for about 12 months. My doctor told me that 400mgs is the highest he ever prescribed anyone. My only complaint is that it takes a long time to taper off of. It took me 2 months to slowly taper off.

Re: I might have to give up on stimulants

I think I had a panic attack.I need a lady or group of ladies here to come to my rescue.Cause I've tried almost everything I can think(medication, therapy, religion) of. I'm still in therapy nothing seems to help except people(especially women who are in a similar situation with re-guard to disorders and treatment challenges.)
Talking to the ladies here works better than therapy or anxiety medication.

I'll admit I AM Not Strong Enough For ANYTHING being thrown my way at the moment.

I need to find some strength quick.

Both at different times over a matter of several years.

considering stimulants dont seem to cut it for you, as your attorney i advise you to either try natural methods of 'treatment' (unless your ADD is severe enough you need medication like some do) or try nonstimulants like Strattera.

personally i dont remember what Concerta was like but it didnt work for me, then i was on Strattera with Fluoxetine but i hated both since i felt more depressed, i did Adderall for a time, for some reason went to try Vyvanse so my doctor could see how it worked. Vyvanse for me was like a weaker Adderall with more intense feelings of no hunger, making me lose way more weight than ever. so now im on Adderall and i havnt looked back.
Well I was on Ritalin as a small boy way back in the 1990's Like 1995 through 1998. I'm almost certain they were migraines cause of the sensitivity to light & sound, eyes watering to the point of tears, & dizziness, & vomiting all from the headache itself.I've considered Strattera as a treatment option but it carries with it the same risk of cardiovascular injury as do the stimulants as well as depression & liver problems & for me it probably wouldn't hold the same amount of efficacy as do the stimulant treatments. So next step for me is most likely an anti-depressant(not named Wellbutrin I already tried years back it didn't work out.) or a blood pressure medication like Intuniv.

FYI I don't think this has anything to do with your med issues. But it's an important thing that a lot of people don't know about. My cholesterol is so low (134 combined) that it's almost unhealthy. Most doctors don't care, since they're flooded with high numbers all the time. If your HDL is low you're supposed to eat more nuts and good fats to bring it up, excercise, all the usual stuff.
