Question Levels of l-lysine affect Rate of Absorption?

vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate) is dextroamphetamine attached with amino acid (l-lysine).

since removal of l-lysine from dextroamphetamine affects the rate of the absorption of dextroamphetamine, would taking an l-lysine supplement in any way further affect the rate?

If you're eating a normal diet, why would you need to supplement with l-lysine?

hmm my guess would be no, but that's just a guess. My thinking is that how much L-lysine you get in your diet or through supplements wouldn't effect Vyvanse because what's cleaving the Lysine molecule off the D- amphetamine molecule is trypsin, which is an enzyme. I don't see how ingesting more Lysine would effect your trypsin levels.

Interesting. I supposed in theory taking extra L-lysine could slow down the breakdown of Vyvanse. My guess is that it probably won't make a difference though.

Sounds like you want to prolong the effects?

The mechanism of action this prodrug (Lisdexamfetamine dimesylate)Takes is to make an inactive molecule, Lisdexamfetamine, active by separating the l-lysine from the dextroamphetamine so the dexamphetamine can do its job. The process of separation determines the rate of dextroamphetamine being available
To be absorbed. Nothing that I know of can metabolically speed up the separation. This drug was made with the intent of making abuse difficult. It was also made to last longer than other stimulant xr meds. I think they did an ok job.

More l-lysine in your system would just thatů more l-lysine in your system.

Once the chemical is separated however,
The dextroamphetamines rate of absorption can be negitavly effected, or slowed down, by vitamin C. Vitamin C can prevent a percentage of it from being absorbed all togather, essentialy waisting it.

There are chemicals to up the absoption rate and re-absorbion In the urinary tract when it is being excreated as dextroamphetamine instead of dextroamphetamines metabolites. There is also a chemical to just make the amphetamine stronger by other means than absorption

Flounder41, what chemical would help with re-absorbsion in the urinary tract? Would it noticeably extend the therapeutic effects of the medication?

Taking a l-lysine supplement won't do anything. Vyvanse is d-amphetamine attached to a l-lysine. L-lysine doesn't break itself down. What actually breaks down/removes the l-lysine from vyvanse is trypsin, which is an enzyme that your pancreas produces.
