Unhappy Adderall and Humana drug coverage Part D, don't use Humana

I am 59, Last year Humana paid for Adderall and Ritalin generics.

Starting in Jan this year, I needed an exception to get generic Ritalin thru them, process took over 2 weeks, I filled out form, Dr.filled out form, submitted and denied.

Dr. wanted me to try Concerta, I asked for price, I call Humana they say its the same as Ritalin, I tell them it is not and its time released and the cost would be different, you would think they would know that being now the Ins. Co's are dictating what drug you can take now for ADHD, after that call I get denied for Concerta

I could not afford Concerta.

Dr. gives me an rx for generic adderall, once again..I need to file an exception, denied twice..

I payed out of pocket $67.00 for generic adderall

So on their allowed list is Strattera, I tried that years ago, did not help, so going by their rules I buy the Strattera, $60.00.

That had me so damn tired, my BP dropped, I was so tired and wondered why they would ok this drug that makes me tired, am I supposed to be a zombie or sleep all day? Is this Humana's cure? I called Humana again, go thru the ritual with the Dr. and their forms, denied, but would ok Ritalin generic.

Ritalin makes me so edgy when it is wearing off, that's the time I know its time to take another pill.

Dr's office called me again, saying Humana would approve generic Ritalin, not Adderall.

Humana says Adderall is a high risk drug, its more of high risk if I don't take it. I've had my heart checked and all those test's and I am fine with my cardio system.

I've just had enough....I'll just have to pay out of pocket for it, I can use my AAA motor club card to get some discount, not much but something.

So, can I go out of state to buy this with less cost?

Isn't this discrimination of disabled civil rights liberties?

The insurance co is telling me you can only buy the Ritalin thru their insurance or use Strattera, and too bad for you we are not approving Adderall the lower cost rx.

Thanks in advance

Generic Ritalin w/o insurance is like $6 a month- but I'm assuming you're in the US by saying that...

Generic Concerta is a flipping rip-off... still $130 or something w/o insurance. It's annoying.

If you can't get your insurance company to accept it, you can always look into patient assistance programs, right?

I wish, I am just over the limit for any help, the gray area, how they figure that's a lot to live on is beyond me, the way of the world.

Thanks for reply
