max dose

So, how much is everyone taking?
I know the max dose is 40mg daily but some have 60mg
approved.
I am using 20mg & 20mg IR but it seems I need 30mg & 30mg lately.
Not sure if that's because I'm trying a different brand this month or
what?
I have not tried XR because I'm afraid it will give me insomnia.
Anyways, just wondering what others are using.

My doctor has a patient that takes 120mg a day. Crazy.

I take 60mg which is what is approved for narcolepsy. It works pretty well/

Amphetamines are not healthy so the lowest possible dose should be used. In my case that is 60mg a day. I also weigh about 200 pounds. On weekends I often take less and occasionally none. In my experience the brand can make a very significant change in effect. Don't ask me why

Amphetamines not healthy? Neither is having ADD unmanaged.

Not trying to attack you at all but would just like to clarify that when using larger doses side effects can increase like higher blood pressure, increase heart rate, etc

But of course everyone is different and that's why it is important to work with your doctor to monitor what works best for you.

My blood pressure was sporadic and high before starting back on Stimulants recently but my blood pressure is now under control and normal and I take a larger dose of stimulants than I did in the past. My doctor does know that I check my Bo at least once a day and have been keeping him informed.

Adderall keeps my blood pressure down but ritalin raises it a bit...go figure

My bp goes through the roof on amphetamines (adderall, vyvanse). It still raises slightly with ritalin but not as much

That's besides the point. Amps aren't healthy but are necessary. The correct dose is the lowest dose that works. If a dosage is abnormally high, that's just an unfortunate reality for some. My suspicion is that in such a case, amps aren't the best treatment for that person. Unfortunately, I don't think a better treatment exists at this time. Hopefully some better medications are designed in the near future.

40 mg IR and 60 mg XR is the max recommended dose. Some dr's may prescribe more, but they tend to go up to 60 with XR/IR combos as well

My blood pressure was normal for the first years I was on Adderall, and only started to register high in the past couple years, so I was not buying Adderall as the culprit. But my doctor is relatively new, so that was his thinking.

40 mg max a day, or a dose? I've been on 30mg 2x for years and have been told several times that's about the max dose.

My doctor won't prescribe more than 30mg a day. I don't take Adderall, but that's what my doctor said about max dose.

Whoops, I forgot to include my dose.

I take 20mgXR and 5mgIR in the morning and usually another 5mgIR 6-8hrs later as needed. I rarely take more than 30mg total in a day, but I do sometimes.

I also take 100mg of sertraline/zoloft each day which is known to have a dopamine re-uptake inhibitor effect as a secondary function... so my dosage of adderall may be lower than what would otherwise be necessary due to this.

I'm at 100 mg/day. 5 20mg IR's 5 x day. Been taking them for a few years though.
