Which has worked better: Vyvanse or Adderall XR?

I was just wondering for those of you know have tried Vyvanse and also Adderall XR, which one of the two worked better for you and why?

Adderall gave me more of a push to do things I wasn't necessarily interested in, but it gave me daily migraines. Vyvanse doesn't give me a big push, but I can focus well on it, and I don't get migraines.

My daughter tried vyanse with bad side effects but shes super senistive to everything. Adderall contains levoamphetamine which is alot of the drive that people speak of when they talk of adderall. Vyvanse is digested and goes through the gut so it can take longer to work but some people have great success with it.

For me, Vyvanse. I didn't feel like myself on adderall.

I am considering trying to go back to Vyvanse from Adderall XR. I think Vyvanse will last longer. The problem is I had more panic attacks on Vyvanse than I do on Adderall XR. Might not be an issue with Vyvanse, however, for now I'm on a low dose of Adderall XR.

From my own experience, Adderall gave me a more of a push and a whole lot of euphoric feeling. But i had a terrible crash at the end of the day(cycle). I noticed that if i focused on one thing, then i would stay there and finish the task. Although it seems like a good thing, until you realize that you've been focusing on something useless for hours, and then start berating yourself for it.


Vyvanse is a much more smoother drug that goes in and kicks in within first 2 hours and tends to last for 10 hours. It gives me a relaxed feeling and i have no anxiety whatsoever. It has been only 7 days and i'm on 30mg, but am planning to jump to 50mg tomorrow per doctors request. I'm finding that i have much more patience while i'm on Vyvanse.

Vyvanse, when I come down at the end of the day I just feel like ahhhh im done and I relax, I can still function, goto a party socialize be pretty normal and stuff. With adderall, when I come down at the end of the day I feel like uhhhhgg im i zombie, I am awkward not capable of smiling at least not genuinely and just withdraw for the night.

So thats what drove me to vyanse, never looked back

I thin part of the problem is that vyanse is absorbed the the gut which makes it slower whereas adderall for me starts kicking aroun 45 min after taking it.

One information does interesst me especially, the quote that adderall is more likley to increase side effects such as a increase of anxiety?

For your information: I´m German and living in Germany. We don`t have both of the medications, adderall nor vyvanse. But recently we got a medication called Attentin (which is as Vyvanse D-amphetamine). Unfortunately this medication only got a approval for treating ADHD in children. (That´s because most of our professionals in the field of adult psychiatry in Germany don`t believe in the existence of ADHD in adults. That´s why many people diagnosed with ADHD in Germany including myself in the first place are diagnosed by pediatricians not by psychiatrists.)

But back to the point. So we have D-amphetamin (at least theoretically) in the form of ready-made pills à 5 mg D-Amphetamin.

DL-amphetamin we only have either in liquid form or in pill form, both isn`t ready-made and has to be produced by your local drugstore.

DL-amphetamin has got a approval for treating ADHD in adults. But you have to pay for it by yourself. That means: It isn`t paid by your health insurance because as we learned above ADHD doesn`t exist in adults (in Germany).

So now i told a lot of the situation with adult adhd in Germany.

Acctually my point was, if you could confirm the message, that D-amphetamine produces less side-effects (especially anxiety) than Dl-amphetamine?

I tried both things ( d- and dl-amphetamine) in Germany. And I could totally relate to that information on the website I quoted, especially with that impact on anxiety. Problem of course is: In Germany it´s still difficult to get d-amphetamine as an adult. (Even children only could get d-amphetamine since half a year ago. Before there was no D-amphetamine available at all wether for children nor adults.)

I should mention that the anxiety disorder exists as a comorbidity and is increased by the amphetamine not initially produced.

To answer the last poster, vyvanse works better for me because I got horrible daily migraines on adderall IR, and I have zero side effects with the vyvanse. So for me, the exclusion of the l-amphetamine made all the difference in the world in terms of side effects.

In terms of effectiveness, I felt that the adderall IR worked slightly better than vyvanse. I had more motivation and focus, and it kicked in quicker. I also lost weight rapidly on the adderall, which for me was a plus (vyvanse is weight-neutral for me.)
