I'm thinking about asking my doctor to prescribe me an IR dose of Adderall for late afternoons, since my Vyvanse wears off before I can finish my homework assignments, etc. And I sometimes don't get home until 4 pm due to some extracurricular activity of mine, which leaves me with just one hour to complete stuff...
I've done a little research and found that some people are in fact prescribed both an XR med and then an IR tablet for afternoons to be covered for the rest of the day (like until 9 pm or so). So I was wondering how to go about in doing this without sounding like a druggie, haha. Should I mention to my doctor that my friend who also had ADHD takes an IR booster in the afternoons, and that was what gave me the idea?Probably irrelevant, but right now, I am currently on a drug holiday due to summer break (I'm in high school).

Re: Thinking about asking my doctor for a prescription addition...
Some doctors will openly allow of this and some will not. One being is insurance companies and just lately have become very stingy on covering these medications.. Two, the fear of someone taking that extra prescription and selling it then they are liable.
But anyway, just bring it up with your doctor just tell him or her that your friend who also has ADD/ADHD mentioned this to you when you talked about the problem with him and maybe giving it a try wouldn't hurt. Just be comfortable with your choice and always be honest and upfront with a doctor they know what to look for in people who are "Sneaky" don't be sneaky.

Re: Thinking about asking my doctor for a prescription addition...
If you have a good realtionship with your doctor and havent had an instances of abuse or magical "I lost my prescriptions/the dog ate my homework" than I would just be straight forward. If you have the research to back up your point which you do, then a good doctor should be able to see they same point of view.
